Is there some special trick to getting the impeller disk off a Kaz 400? Algae/slime buildup has killed mine even after cleaning after filling daily, so it needs an autopsy/repair.

While I don't own one of these, I have disassembled quite a few different products before. Sometimes this can get frustrating. I will say this, everything which is put together can be similarly disassembled. The worst thing you could see in this case would be a rivet, and seeing that your device is plastic, have no fear!
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. See if your warranty is still good.

The warranty is good, but my projects don't need 2 days of no humidity before I can get another so I was looking to do a temporary repair before return/find out how to get the new one apart.

if you are going to return it i would err against taking it apart they pretty much will never honor a warranty if it even appears to have been tampered with in any way. when i would do inspections for warranty returns if i even saw what i believed might be a screw driver mark on a single screw the claim would be denied.

Wal*Mart doesn't even look in the package. My grow is more important than this Kaz's virginity.

What I do to keep my Coolmist healthy is every 1-2 weeks I completely open it and Wash it with steaming HOT Water. It Peals away all the Orange slim and keeps it Running Smooth. Ive Yet to replace 1 and Ive yet to have to Actually have to clean the actual Impeller, Although I will After I finish my Next grow.
