Anyone use this before? I have read that it's beneficial to those with depression, insomnia, and schizophrenia; im just wondering who else used this suppliment and if they have seen any changes in themselves.

i used 5-htp as part of my pre and post load routine when i took mdma for a long while. It helped cushion the impact of the hangover a bit, but, never really noticed much other then that. Now i don't even bother and just deal with feeling like shit for a day or two.

I have used it with good results. It helped a spell of depression I was going through a while back... then I noticed that it was possibly making me drowsy throughout the day so I switched to taking it right before bed. It makes an excellent sleep supplement. I usually have an awful time falling asleep, but as long as I remember my 5-HTP (along with magnesium and taurine, sometimes GABA, Kava, or L-Theanine) before bed I'm fine.

I recently began using it and i'd say that it's worth a shot. It does help right before bed but if you're looking for a "sleep aid" melatonin might be a little better. 5-HTP is best used with a B vitamin complex along with it I belive. It's pretty cheap, worth trying at least

Thats good to hear, maybe I'll take it later on in the day like you did, I only took 100 mg just now, I was planning on taking 1 in the morning and one at night, but I decided based on what you said, I should take 1 around supper and one before going to bed.
I also read that it makes the effects of getting stoned better in certain ways: "actually, I take that back--it was QUITE similar to the first few times that I smoked weed, in the way that I felt somewhat hyper and had an intense experience. Anyone who habitually smokes weed knows what I'm talking about."

thats one thing I want to improve, I don't take anti-depressents, so I was thinking this would at least help with my depression and insomnia and schizophrenia.
I'm not looking for a cure, just want to be in a better state of mind.

Taking a precursor to seratonin won't help schizophrenia, but it will help with insomnia and depression.

i've used it and only noticed a slight mood change...not sure if it was placebo or not.
if your depressed, please eat healthy and exercise regularly before trying a quick fix. taking time to fix things the right way WILL help in the long run.

Very true, I gatta take the initiative to go to the gym more often for longer durations, and I like that cold shower idea... although its going to be intense doing that, but it would wake me up good (which is good cause I sleep in alot), eating healthy is another good idea, although I try to keep it healthy, its not always easy.
