What "Brain Training" software would you recommend for the PC? I'm somewhat limited since I'm working with Windows ME. I tried downloading several different programs both from P2P networks and websites..Either they wouldn't run or were viral infected. Any suggestions/links? I'm not working, so FREE is what I'm looking for.

Yeah, I downloaded Dr. Kamishira's (sp?) Nintendo DS emulator with my dialup connection at 185 mb only to get an error message that it's not a valid Win322 application, downloaded BrainScram only to have an "Unexpected Error" pop up..I've very seldom had problems running programs before..Can't find a single one to run for me now!!?? Would you have a link for me?

ive tried lots of brain training software and its mostly bullshit. the best software isnt marketed as "brain training" and is for training specific things. if youre really interesting in boosting your brain power, read everything at winwenger.com. no need to buy anything, all the good info's for free. they genuinly want to help people!
some software: APB or "absolute pitch blaster" earmaster pro www.thatquiz.com abasoft eidetic memory puzzle any of the trillion puzzle games the web. go for the unique ones and play new ones each day
id just think of specific skills then do some googling for software thatl train them. "brain trainings" just BS marketing hype
most useful link i can give you: http://www.winwenger.com/imagestr.htm

I'm not aware of any "brain training" software that is particularly good. I've actually been looking for a while, myself. I have one program I DL'ed not long ago, that I haven't tried yet. I'll let you know how that goes....
The closest thing I have to a brain training program right now is "Eye Q" which is a program to teach speed reading. It definitely does improve your reading speed, and I guess it could be seen as a kind of brain training. That can easily be found using P2P programs like Ares, and probably through torrents. (Although, if you're interested you should go out and legally buy it, like I did, *cough cough*)
Playing puzzle games can be great for "brain training." Go to the shroomery arcade and play a game like Virus 2. Games like that could help improve pattern-recognition, as well as analytical/strategic thinking, which can sharpen the mind.
Similar for games like Alchemy or Hexxagon.
THIS SITE has a bunch of good puzzle games as well, some of which might help in the same way.
I hate to state the obvious here, but if you really want to sharpen your mind, reading is one of the best things you can do. Read. A lot.
Here's a good link for you: TOP 10 WEBSITES FOR BRAIN TRAINING
That page has links to 10 sites which contain tons of exercises you can do, for the sake of "brain training."
I hope that helps. Let me know what you think.
