IMO, kits are for those who want to succeed marginaly at least once before they learn what they are doing. or those who believe the hype about the ounces uppon ounces the kit will produce, as some like to promise.

If I ever grow mushrooms, I'll do it properly. If there was an acid making kit, it would be another story.

Many years ago a homestead kit put me any many of my friends into psychs, when there were none around.
However, with a little bit of research, you can make your own kit for much less than they are charging. And IME, flushes and potency are pretty marginal as another poster said.

dude, i have a complete homestead kit in my closet, lol. my dads friend was moving out of his place and going up north a few years back, needed someone to hold some items that he couldn't just put in storage. a bunch of hydroponic growing supplies and one other thing, the homestead mushroom kit.
i have it in my closet for laughs. the only thing that could do me good are the spores (maybe) but i don't want to grow b+. i need better spores and no one will let me have them
my mom found it one time too. she was like "WTF why you got a mushroom kit?!" i was like hah, dont get mad at me, i got it from dad and he asked me to hold it one time.. lol
i don't even know how old the damn thing is?! its been in my possesion since about '03, and i'm sure its at least from a while back?

i have been teaching a simple bulk tek for first time growers. it's actualy no more complicated than the pf tek for a first time grower but with results that will actualy inspire the cultivator. the main importance is teaching/learning sterile technique and the importance of sanitation and hygene in the the growing environment.
