Exploring the mind
    #7772335 - 12/18/07 12:06 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Last night I was just lieing on my bed thinking with my eyes closed, but not thinking so much just letting things come to me. It was sort of like how people do astral projection except for not wanting to seperate. After about 30 minutes I started to have weird visions/OBE but I was still in my body I experiencing psychadelic visuals like the light sequence in the animatrix. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0lAUfUyeTiM Like there but not as complex or fast moving. Anyways I felt like my concious was floating in this space, but I was still definitely connected. Is this just sense deprivation sort of, or has anyone explored anything like this?

Were you on the verge of sleep, or totally awake? I can do this when on the verge of sleep, and am working on getting deeper into consciousness while totally aware (without chemical assistance). Sounds very interesting.

sounds like some meditation kinda stuff where you were kinda half-sleeping and you connected with your subconscious, right?

if you thought it was a good thing, keep trying it maybe you can get something out of it..

i dont usually have time to be layin around thinkin about stuff though

i might have to try that since i have lots of time on my hands now that school's out and my xbox is broken again.. and there are no drugs... and my friends are all outta town..

Well I was was starting to get vibrations like with AP, and you forget like how your arm is shaped and trick your mind to think your thumb is on the wrong side, and then it actually IS. I don't know, if you just lie down and close your eyes stuff gets weird  . But no, I was quite concious and had full control of my body, I'm pretty good at staying focused and awake while laying with my eyes closed. I pay attentiont to what's going on. It was actually just one tunnel of square lights not connected going into more of the tunnels, and it was all black around and the lights were cool blue and I floated into them and started floating down them but eventually it went away.

Ohhh yeah then the tunnel turned into a sort of worm hole looking thing and started sucking me down it and I could feel it pulling up on my body and I was getting the craziest pulling feeling, it was kind of intense, and my heart started beating extremely fast, and I was wondering if this was some other kind of OBE or something weird, but it didn't progress into anything.

^Should explain all^

Vibrations, visuals, sensory anomalies are all documented experiences from people attempting Lucid Dreaming through the WILD method which is basically what you were doing.

oh so I could of gone into a dream completely in control of my body? I never got sleep paralysis. That's neat, I'll try to get into a dream like that, it'd be probably alot more fun than normal dreaming, because you're going immediately from concious to dreaming still concious. :hehehe:

Precisely, that is the advantage of the WILD method compared to others.

Focus is particularly difficult to maintain though, and it is easy to fall into non-lucid sleep. I have a hard time with it, but I didn't go about it with the most disciplined approach. Count yourself lucky and read up on DV. Have some fun while you sleep.

Hmm well last night I got the sleep paralysis (pretty fast too under 20 minutes), but I couldn't keep my kind calm enough to get past the random images. I would always either start thinking too much about how my body feels, or thinking about what I'm trying to do and eventually the images would go away and I'd have to start over. After about 2 hours I gave up though and dozed into some forgotten dreams.

Any ideas from people on how after your in sleep paralysis to progress further past the images?

I'm gonna definitely be trying this again tonight.

Hmm, it'll probably just take practice. This time I really noticed the sleep paralysis, I had heard it being like having a lead blanket layed on you and that is kind of how it feels, starts at the feet and moves up. It was cool to try to lift my arms up and not be able to. I can move my head and eyes and mouth freely though, and my digits.
