A strange spot to trip (perhaps)

Some of you might think this is disrespectful, but I think if one were to do it, it would be much more in effort of spiritual communion.
What if one where to take a drug such as mushrooms on a fairly high dose and visit the grave of a friend or family member? It would be important to put any grievances past, or possibly visit the graves of random people to attempt communication.
It might be a very interesting way to prove that hallucinogens are more than just a drug.

I'm not sure that being at the actual site would be necessary, but it may be for some people... personally, I believe that if you have a strong connection to the person who is no longer physically attached, you can "tune in" anywhere, as long as your mind is in the right place. The disrespect wouldn't necessarily be that you were at the grave site, but that you would potentially be disrespecting another person's interactions with their loved one(s). In my opinion, being intoxicated at places of remembrance crosses ethical lines that I am not personally willing to cross.
That being said, I understand your points.
Messing with the dead when you have no attachment to them is a huge no-no. Unless you're prepared for what else may come to you, you're really begging for problems if you cross that line. This is especially true in instances where you force communication with a soul that has passed on... I'd love to discuss more if you're up for it.

imho that would be a bad idea..
graveyard seems like a really bad place to trip..
no stimulation.. kind of a sad, dreary place.
but people take drugs for different reasons.. i like to have a happy environment to relax and get away from it all.
if you wanna talk to the dead, do it sober..

Bad trip potential.
Churches bad, too. I caught some LSD once during a performance of Arvo Part "Arbos" and was so blown away I was a sobbing wreck. I had to tell everyone I'd accepted jebus as my savior to get 'em to leave me alone.

I wouldn't do it, but it sounds like it'd be a really interesting experience.

First time I tripped on shrooms (I had been doing LSD before) we were driving around. We pulled into a graveyard. I wanted to get out and explore, no one else did. Then, we backed up the car and continued driving. 2 minutes later I had my first bad trip on any drug.
Coincidence?

Almost every single trip I have been on winds me up at a graveyard. I LOVE graveyards. Respecting the dead is a man made tool; You can do anything you want in a graveyard as long as said tool is used well (That is up to you to decide)
I slept in graveyards, sit and rolled joints on headstones, ect...It isn't what you do in graveyards, but the Vibes of your Intentions you bring with you that matter most in my experience.
I take cemetaries very seriously, as I have grown up with them as some have grown up with toy trucks.

I'd be more concerned w/ trespassing. Just make sure you're either allowed to be there or the cops don't randomly come by (which they do in my area)

Good advice! Know your local cemetary laws and the rhythms of visitation by the locals!

an hallucinogen is more than a diuretic and much more delicious than an allergy pill.
what you experience with it will be enhancement of what would normally be experienced, but I don't think grave-sites prove anything about the quality of hallucinogens.
people have plenty of pent up associations about death, family and tombstones; this is what your trip is about, death & culture.
I usually like psychedelics with life and personal experience of nature.

If you were living in Mexico, for example, it would be quite natural to enter a graveyard on Dia de los Muertos, where your neighbors would be dancing and celebrating the lives of their ancestors. People would be laughing. Good times and respect had for all. The taboo about death is purely cultural. There are Buddhist meditations about death and dying, where you watch your body decompose into wormfood. I would probably not visit a graveyard in the US whilst tripping, though, because y'all are right: they are built to be cold and dry here. But again that's all culture.

i've never had a problem tripping in cemeteries, i wasn't trying to contact anything though.
when i've tried to contact a dead person while tripping my subconscious stops the process as soon as i start to feel strange.

sorry to hear about this, but the jesus thing had me laughing
and i would say, if you are going to go to a graveyard, make sure all your intentions are true. Dont go tripping just to see what it would be like.
but if you think the psychedelics would help you understand and respect the person's life then i would consider it.
if you do it tell us how it goes

I have been thinking heavily about going to my old home town in which my mother - whom I lost at age 17 - had been buried at. I plan to at some point, when ready, go there, either on LSD or mushrooms, sit down in front of her tombstone, and try to come to a better understanding of what my personal stance is on the passing of my mother. It has been 5 years since she passed away. I am quite experienced with mushrooms. Although, if I were to go on LSD I would need to experience it a few more times before I chose that path (due to inexperience).
Anyone have any incite or thoughts?

i think mushrooms are better for dealing with personal shit, thats just my opinion, ive tripped on acid 10+ times, and mushrooms 3 times, all my acid trips combined dont really add up to how much i learned about myself from one breakthrough shroom trip
i guess then again ive never had a breakthrough on acid even though i have tried
