A complex situation

So here goes:
I had been a fairly regular (1-2x per month) tripper for about 2 years, using all the popular psychedelics. These were the only substances I used. During the summer, I had two very strong experiences, the first of which terrified me (a complete "freak out" experience). About a week after my second one, I moved away to college. A month or so passed, and despite the HPPD that I have had for 1.5 years at that point, nothing happened. No trips, no traumatic experiences. One morning, I was pretty tired and in the middle of a class I had the first panic attack of my life. I felt like I was becoming extremely ill or that I was going to experience psychosis. It was a terrible feeling of losing all control and possibly dying. I had a second one that night. Since then I have had them sporadically, maybe once every few weeks, triggered by stressful situations. What strikes me is that I had never had anything close to these in my entire life, even in near-death situations. I've always been a calm and collected sort of guy.
What I am trying to figure out is if it was the psychedelics that could have caused these to happen. I must say that a panic attack has the same body-level of a level 4/5 experience, so that initially lead me to believe that it may have been caused by them. Now its been a few months, and I'm trying to figure out if I should give the psychedelics another shot.
What do you think? Do you think it was the psychedelics that caused these attacks? I know that they have the ability to unlock underlying conditions in individuals, but its the time frame of this that makes me wonder. It had been a full month since my last experience, and about three months since my only bad experience.

How can anyone here know what caused it? I've had it too, but after quitting tripping it never happens anymore. A lot of people get them who have never done drugs. Good luck feeling better.

You say despite the hppd you have had?
All kinds of people have anxiety attacks. Maybe you should see a therapist, or get prescribed xanax
Or you could try to deal with it by meditating. Their are a number of ways to deal with anxiety including exercise.
Just pay attention to what you eat and how you maintain your lifestyle. Try to avoid stressful situations. Take control.

people always post this stuff about (sometimes) serious conditions that may be because of drug use. You know there is doctor-patient confidentiality so there is absolutely nothing wrong with going to your doctor and explaining the entire situation... what makes you think that a post on the shroomery would be even close to as helpful?
