Casing problem!!
    #7770416 - 12/17/07 04:43 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I just harvested all my casings and now want to dunk. the problem is the casing mix(50/50) is very lose and it looks like it will just wash away.

Should I dump off what will fall off then dunk?
What should I do?

what will wash away isnt all that important as long as
the entire thing doesnt just break apart...
you could wait till after the 2nd flush to dunk,
allowing the casing layer to become more colonized....or
you could just do your dunk and see what happens...
just make sure its weighed down properly...
if ya still need advice give us a lil more info...
like what your dunk method is...

im not too big a fan of dunking yet, im sure itll grow on me,
(i dont dunk untill fruiting REALLY slows down
like after the 3rd or 4th flush...) but it does work wonders...

I don't know, I think i'll just fill up the trays and cover with tin foil. My casing is Peat, verm, gypsum and oyster shells. I think it might be a little think the pinning was ok but not great.
