Fruiting Jars In vitro

Iv'e noticed quiet a few pictures of ppl taking the lids of their jars and letting their mushies grow out the top..Is there any reason for that...Wouldn't you get less out of it since only the top is exposed ?

Perhaps. But, it sure is easy and foolproof. The jar makes a mini-terrarium.

Let's give this one a little... (BUMP) so that all interested parties may have a bit of inspiration! LOOK AT THIS! It really plays well with the K.I.S.S motto; Keep It Simple Stupid. Lol. Actually I remember a quote from Einstein where he said something like...

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."

And again, this was Einstein himself.

This quote makes me reflect on RR's shotgun Fruiting Chamber (FC). That must've taken a LITTLE bit of nuts to do it the first time.

Let's keep this in the scope... I really do believe the "up and comers/Newbs" will have so much an easier time by simply observing these pictures and ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT THEM!!!!:doggull:

i did this a while ago and was surprised by the outcome.

the downside is the shrooms tend to grow from the side, and getting them out is hard without damaging the substrate

Hmmm, I can see the in jar terrarium being difficult during harvest. As for the taped jars, this would reduce the light contacting the mycelial mat below the level which you specify and would keep the fungus growing from the top.

I firmly believe these old-school teks still have something to offer. Very good for the newbies, hell, good for all. I'm going to do some experimenting once I can figure what I want to do. Until then, I'll have a bunch of these in all stages. I'll keep you all on the up and up.

...there IS a secret to it... we just don't know what yet! I don't know what it is, but I do think there's something to be had here... If you people do use either of these teks let me know how it turns out...

Well I suppose on the next Pint Jars I open, I will fruit them from the jars. Might as well since I brought this up lol. On another note my jars of Cracked Corn seem to be coming along just fine, I knocked those up today.

There ya go, that's the spirit. Just know that I'm right here along side of you. I've done other grows before, but I'm really excited about this one. It's so vintage!
