Where exactly do the candidates stand?
    #7767703 - 12/16/07 10:16 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

It has been said that what is leftist or liberal in the US is moderate to right-wing elsewhere.

The Political Compass would agree. Sort of explains how most of the candidates sound the same...

That thing is a complete load. Right and left don't exist.

Even the first Question:

If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations. >Strongly Disagree
>Disagree
>Agree
>Strongly Agree

Presupposes that globalization is inevitable, and that it benefits ANYONE. Diverse people can't be controlled in union.

the ron paul one had me confused too. from what i've read of him i would assume him to be way far to the libertarian side cuz he basically wants to dismantle the bureaucracy.

Somehow I think that there were other people filling in the questionnaire for each of them.

zappa lies, they all took it, and liked it

But yeah... I suggest one problem is what I mentioned in the other thread, they group personal beliefs in with political beliefs and don't distinguish between state and federal policy.

i.e. I don't personally care for abortion in most instances, but would not make my personal whim a government policy, and would also think the state's were better suited to decide that issue.

I somewhat torn on the Roe v. Wade decision, and I love the implication for other areas of law, but I just don't see how the ninth amendment can imply a right to privacy w/ regards to abortion, but not w/ regards to use of drugs in ones own home. Or prostitution in the same. Or any other victimless crime that isn't clearly affecting otherwise-uninvolved nonconsenting parties.

so did paul lose points on the libertarian side for arguing against abortion rights? Even though he would let the states decide?
