about 2 months ago i injected a bag with 3 cc's of Colorado spore solution and was about ready to give up due to no signs of growth. well when looking at the bag this morning i noticed a small white growth of mycelium no larger then a dime on the top of the sub. after the first sign of myc does the growth process speed up? is there any thing i can do to make sure that nothing goes wrong at this point or is it all up to the myc? right now the bag is sitting in 64 degree temp with a 55% humidity level. i know the temp inside the bag is a little higher then the outside so i should be okay. if the temp does get to low does the myc die or just become dormant until the temp is right again? thanks

Your ambient temp seems kind of low. I'd try to get that up to 70 minimum, 74/75 would probably be ideal (max 80). Is your 55% RH inside the bag or surrounding? 2 months seems kind of long to wait for full colonization, try providing more favorable conditions and I'm sure you'll see growth increase exponentially.

Ideal colonization conditions requires 85-86 degree (F) temps, if my memory serves. Definitely get it near a space heater. And aside from the initial water content of your substrate, I don't think humidity much matters.
Could be mistaken though, I'm new.

i was told that because i used on spore solution in a sub bag it would take a while to grow. could i maybe surround the bag with towels or shirts to warm it up? i really don't have a heating blanket and i cant really turn on the heater cause it fucks with my chicks breathing (long story). are there any other methods of raising the heat? maybe stuck the bag in a box then place towels around the box?

If raising the heater is out of the question then line a box with rags/towel/blanket and put the jars inside then wrap the box in another blanket. This will insulate the jars from the colder ambient air and the heat generated by the colonizing mycelium will raise the temps inside the box/jars, just keep an eye on it to make sure your temps don't get to hot for their liking.

If you've got an older fridge, check out the temp above it. Older fridges often give off a lot of heat through the top, though many new ones have solved this problem. I've read that setting your colonization stuff up there can help.
If that doesn't work, you might just have to buck up and get a little space heater with a temp control setting (one that turns off when the air around it reaches a certain temp, and turns on when it drops below that temp) and put it in a closet. I'd do about 80 degrees (F) for colonization and then when fruiting time comes, about 75. Temp is important.
Again, I'm new at this, but I've done some fairly extensive reading. Could be mistaken, but I think I'm right.

yes the growth process usually speeds up after you see the first signs of mycelium growth...
but in your case it's going to take forever, if ever, to colonize that bag...
your colonization temps are way too low!~
you need to raise your temps into the 70's and up to 81 degrees F.

thanks for the advice. i am keeping the sub bag in a dark closet and is only introduced to light every so often for maybe 5 minutes at the most. putting it on the fridge is out of the question cause i would like to keep it out of sight. ill try the box idea and see how this works out. thanks. if you all have any other advice please feel free to reply.
if i place the bag into a box will it fuck with the air flow?
okay, i found a box, placed the bag into the box surrounded the box with about 4 shirts, placed the box in the closet between the wall and a box of clothes then placed a few shirts around the outside of the box and one sweater ontop of the box. i did leave a small area for air to enter so hopefully this will help. i will check on the temp in a couple of hours to see how its going.
