dark caps?
    #776413 - 07/25/02 03:16 PM (21 years, 2 months ago)

Most of the mushrooms i'm growing have normal brown colored caps but some have very dark colored caps. Some are even black! I'm growing cubensis. there aren't any signs of contams that i can see. Will the ones with the dark caps be safe?

Are the caps black in the pinning stage or in the mature fruit stage? Reason being, Mature fruits can tend to get a darkpurple almost black coloring to the top of the cap, just a natural maturing process. But I do agree that if the mushrooms are just in the pinning stage and the caps are black, they are rotton and need to be removed. bluhoney
