Insomnia
    #7762787 - 12/15/07 06:18 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I got this crap really bad. I mean I run for 6-8 hours straight at work, come home exhausted, shower, eat, get in bed, then just sit there.... And don't sleep. I'm trying to find time to get to a doctor and get something for it, cause I'm seeing a therapist soon for something or other... Anyway, does anyone have any little home remedies for insomnia? I've been taking Tylenol PM's but they know me out for to long and leave me groggy. And I can't smoke a fat bowl as much as I'd like to so don't suggest it :tongue2:

Try some nyquil. You could also get your gf to blow you or rub one out, that might make you a bit tired.

Yeah I get it sometimes, when I'm stressed out from work or jumpy from e or something.. I take valerian root extract, it's a natural herb thing, you'll find it in with the other hippy herb stuff at your pharmacy. Seriously it works wonders for me, take one or too pills half an hour before you go to bed and you'll doze off without thinking about it! Hope it works for you, insomnia is shit!

are you eating healthy? ever tried 5-htp? that could help stablize your mood if that's what's keeping you up.

Valerian Root eh? Could I get that at like a CVS?

And trepanib, I'm already tired, but I just cant sleep. Its like being on meth, without any of the positives... More like being in a constant state of crashing. Eyes burn, mind races, speech doesnt work good (see right there.) My dad keeps insisting that its intentional. A concious decision on my part. He says he gets it too but hes passed out by 930 almost every night. I fight with him about it a lot.
"Yeah pop, lets see, 3 in the morning, nothing but infomercials on TV, nothing to do on the computer, I dont have instruments anymore, but your right, I like staying up for 24-72 hours at a time because I like being up late"

EDIT: No I havent tried 5-hpt. What is it and where would I get it?

Xanax is good for sleep if you have access to it, just don't use it often. I take L-Tryptophan before I go to bed, it sorta helps. Sometimes I take melatonin but I debate whether that really works or not.

Also breathing exercises can help alot too.

And cranking one out right before bed.

And reading a book (but not one that you really get into)

And refraining from listening to any music whatsoever before you go to bed.

And turning a fan on.

Theres lots of things I do, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. When one thing stops workin I'll switch to another, then once that stops I'll go to another, etc.

Yeah that's what I get. I used to work in a bar, I would get home at 4AM after a 12 hour shift, and couldn't get to sleep. I'm actually in oz, but by the powers of google I found:

I swear by the stuff, try to get the highest dose one you can find, it sounds like you need it!

I have terrible insomnia myself. Xanax is the only drug I've come across that makes me sleep like a baby. Ambien just makes me feel too weird to fall asleep.

2mg of Xanax will do the trick.

I did stuff like that for a while. But once I get used to it, it doesnt work at all anymore. Used to use music and a soft volume, then I switched to stand up comedy oddly enough, then that stopped working, so I did medatative tracks for a while, then switched to white noise, Alpha-Beta sound waves, a lava lamp (which was really cool while it lasted), breathing excercises will relax me if I'm high strung but wont put me out. Tried so different decafinated teas, then for a while I was taking some generic Darvocets but the Acetometaphan in them made me to hot and I caught myself taking them 'just cause.' Not a fan of Xanax and dont have access to it, knockin one out actually gets me to excited to sleep.... I'm just a difficult bastard huh

Sweet I'm gonna run up to CVS now and grab some. Ambien worked pretty good until the one time it didn't work and I started feeling euphoric and saw flying spots.... That eventually led to a little accident with to many of those tiny white suckers

Just snagged some Valerian, popped two and getting ready for bed. I doubt its gonna take that much to put me under. As for my diet Lay:
Pretty solid. Not a health freak or anything but usually eggs for breakfast, sandwhich for lunch on whole wheat, and dinner some kinda meats with vegetables usually.

I've had sleeping problems since I was a kid. Parents never believed that it wasnt volentary. But hey I tried the Valerian root last night then past out after being awake for 36 hours, and I woke up today feeling very rested, which is different than how I normally wake up. Cheers Bent
