From the farm to the tub

Are there any step by steps around here about exactly how poo should be handled from the time it's picked up to the time it's ready for the colonized grain?
I'm going to pick up as much as I want from a horse park in the area in the near future and it's in a nice compost pile getting good and.. uhh.. composted.
My knowledge somehow gained through osmosis (I've never done this, always ordered poo online) thinks it goes something like:
1) Dry 2) Shred 3) Remove anything not poo or straw 4) Hydrate 5) Pasteurize
Any big steps I'm missing, or better yet does anyone know of any guides or logs or something that I just couldn't find about this?

you might want to change 2/3 and if it smells at all after you dry it will need leeched re-wet it and then lay it out dry again and keep doing that till you cant smell anything but dirt

Ok. I was raised around horses so I'm familiar with the smells associated with them.
When it's dry and smells like dirt it's good to go, alright, now just figuring out how to dry it. I'm assuming I could just lay it out in a tarp in the sun? It's still sunny enough here during the day.

If there's alot to choose from start by just picking up the dry stuff. That would eliminate a step.
I am absolutely horrid about making links but to get the info you want go to main site, mushroom cultivation, bulk substrates, using poo 101.
