Assuming that by 'expand', you mean to stay away from what you already listen to, here are my recommendations:
Either of the albums by Wolves In The Throne Room
Anything by Coheed & Cambria
Noah's Ark by CocoRosie
Grave-Forests & Their Shadows by Walknut
Pink by Boris
Black One by Sunn O)))
Altar by Sunn O))) and Boris
Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Vampires Of Black Imperial Blood by Mütiilation
Anything up to and including Midian by Cradle Of Filth
...just to name a few.

Unlike most sellouts.....these guys have been around for 15 years plus.

Philip Glass, I am not sure if you have heard of him but he is a minimalist composer who has written some amazing pieces. If you are into opera he has composed some great operas, as well as many piano concerto's. My favorite is probably The Metamorphasis. It is based on the book by Franz Kafka. I would highly recomend the book and the piece.
If you are not familiar with minimalist music, the music from Requim for a Dream is minimalist. People usually love it or hate it.
