Genetic engineer wanting to know best traits......

I am a genetic engineer for a major seed company. On my off time I have been decoding the genetic make up of cubenisis. After one and a half years I am very close,I would like some info on favorable trait's any one has noticed and would like to see as normal growth. I have been growing for about one and a half years and know the basics as most of you already know after one and a half years i am still an infant in terms of knowledge in growth practices. And maybe later on down the road swap different spores to build a better cubenisis, That is more resistant to mold with larger yields and increased potency...
thanks

It would be very interesting if you describe how are you doing your research. How are you crossing different strains? Are you isolating monokarions?
I hope Monsanto is not developing a cubensis strain that will grow only on their GM grains. J/K

I don't see what you guys are scuffing at, there's no way to tell if this guy is legitamate or not... If it is legitimate, I wouldn't mind going into deeper discussion... you know, pick his brain. Can you describe you methods? Do you know how to cross strains? Throw us some technical jargon.

Sweet. Mr. Mush, you are too damn cool in my book.
Most people who do genetic work wouldn't refer to themselves as a 'genetic engineer' who 'decodes' things. It smacks of 100% bullshit, especially the part where he says he's 'very close'. What the hell does that mean? He's sequenced the cubensis genome? On his 'off time'?? And made sense of it as well? In his 'off time'?
Anyone capable of such work can usually avoid run-on sentences as well.
I agree with *COUGH*

i just finished decoding the dna of rats and humans tomarrow im going to grow mushrooms on my head so i can pee blue............that guys full of shit. in a year and a half hes done something that people still cant do (correct me if im wrong). if anything right now hes trying to read as much as he can and hes figuring out that hes screwed. look at his post. by the way there are only 3
1. something about a game cube 2. something about nipple diapers 3. genetic engineering
yeah fucking right

higher psilobin consentration, the better agressive to contams strong rhizo growth make em phosfloress cause that'd look soooo trippy
i've heard it would be possible to hybridize a mushroom strain to produce DMT instead of psilobin which would be a very cool for an easy source of lots of DMT.

Does anyone remember a couple years ago some guy saying he was "very close" to genetically engineering yeast to produce all sorts of psychedelic compounds?

I am still withholding full comment. For the moment, and until proven otherwise, I agree with *cough*. Someone I respect very greatly is intimately involved with genetic research. He explained the difficulties they are having and the problem of what to do after having a relatively accurate sequence. Not mention that it is _exceptionally_ expensive to do the kind of genetic engineering he is talking about.

is it possible to bring out certain trates of the mushroom by cloning them? like say a strain of mushroom is potent, maybe you could find the most potent mushroom in the flush and and clone it. then find the most potent shroom of that flush and so on. think that would work? if it did than i suppose you could find a shroom with a little more than trace amounts of dmt in it and clone it and then clone the mush with the most dmt from that flush and so on. then you can take em with maois to make a much better shroomawaska. think it would work?

DinoMyc: He ain't talking about engineering, he is talking (out his ass IMO) about DNA sequencing. A huge undertaking for an entire genome, but not exactly difficult nor particularly expensive on a per run basis.

There is a HUGE difference between DNA sequenceing and DNA assembling.

I'm not trying to have a pissing contest with anyone. This research is for my personal enjoyment and curiosity, I did not think that explaning ribosomal protein L30, or IMP synthase or ARS (autonomouslyreplicatingsequence) elements.
cubenisis sequence Gene / chromosome SAP1 6 SAP2 R SAP3 3 SAP4 6 SAP5 6 SAP6 6 SAP7 1 SAP8 6 SAP9 6
This is not 100% , all I wanted was to know what mushrooms any one has grown and there favorable traits. If you are not going to do anything constructive, than I really don't need your insults.

isn't l30 only from yeast? The first seven chromosomes you list are from Candida Albicans... If you are serious, and have access to such a lab, by all means we will help you. It seems strange to me that someone would come here asking about what traits were considered beneficial if they were in your position. If one does mycological DNA sequencing research professionally, and has access to an illegal (in most countries of the world) mushroom?s DNA, it would be logical that they have some sense of what traits are considered beneficial for any mushroom, more importantly these ones, and the obviously desired trait of additional active chemical production. I do not do fungal DNA research, nor do any of my friends, but I do have friends who are well experienced in DNA research and manipulation. I have discussed the possibility of manipulating DNA for this purpose, and the resounding answer was 'not now'. If you would be so kind as to give us some information regarding what exactly you are doing as your hobby, perhaps we could offer you some better responses.

I just finished doing some work with the full sequence of lactobacillus acidophilus. As a result, I happen to have all of the software for this kind of thing. If you really have some hard data, I'd love to take a look at it.

There are very few people here (if any) that have any sort of knowledge to make calls about whether this is a windup or not. The rest of you (including myself) best keep our mouth shut and avoid offending a guy who has done nothing to deserve abuse. Polite skepticism is all very good but some of you are bordering on rude.
Chill out....
