Psilocybin content in mycelium?
    #7758862 - 12/14/07 03:29 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I have a friend who has been speculating that you could probably just drink some LC he made and, well, have some fun. This isn't forum-speak for "I'm considering this," it really is a buddy of mine. Personally I think he's a jackass. Hah.

Anyway, any thoughts on this? Would it work--is there enough psychoactive in myc to be effective? Would it be dangerous? It's just water, honey and myc, after all. And it's sterile. So...

I don't know, I don't think this is a very important question and he probably won't do it because I would give him so much trouble, I just thought it was funny, so I decided to bring it up.

couple of problems with doing this.
1: the myc may not be mature enough to contain psilocybin
2: the lc could be contaminated with some nasty bacteria that could have him spewing from both ends.

Did you try and search this? Its been brought up a million times and over and over again its a big NO and if you don't think thats true do a quick extract defat with some baking soda and zippo fluid type thing from the dried mysc and see if you even get anything. That would end the argument once and for all.

Oh, I really didn't post this for serious consideration. I just thought it was funny that my asshole friend was talking about chugging his master culture. Perhaps I should've posted it in another part of the boards... Didn't mean to offend the delicate senses of the mushroom growing community.

there really isnt enough mycelium to do so in an lc. If you ever strain out 1/2 gallon of lc and then dry the material you might get a few grams or mycelium which does contain what you want but it isnt as dense as a mushroom or as you.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

I should add that just because this isn't an effective course of action with cubensis, It has proved beneficial with reishi.

You'd be supprised at the amount of things ive heard people trying to do with mycelium to get high...

Eating colonized cow poop is so far the worst...
