Zelda Vs. Oblivion

Just got and started playing Oblivion for PS3. Now as much as I love every singe Zelda game that has ever been created I really think Oblivion gives those games a run for their money. Nice smooth graphics and game play. One of the best games I've ever played. It's giving me something good to do while I'm healing from the extraction of my wisdom teeth too.

Oblivion as in elder scrolls?
-------------------- Man is timid and apologetic; he is no longer upright; he dares not say "I think," "I am," but quotes some saint or sage. He is ashamed before the blade of grass or the blowing rose.Man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time TRANSCEND

Well, they're two entirely different experiences. Zelda is puzzle oriented platformer-esque, only RPG in the vaguest sense whereas Oblivion is immersive, character development open ended game play.
Apples and oranges man. Although, I've invested a good 250 hours of my life into Oblivion.

I'm going to go right on ahead and say nothing trumps Zelda.
That's right.
Nothing.

Meh, Oblivion is one of those games where you think it's great and then you realise it's all a big con.
Hate to break it to you but you don't have to level up... It's all relative- when you level, all enemies level too. You can complete the whole game through to the end with a n00b character. That killed it for me, the whole sense of achievement went right down the pisser.
Stunning graphics though, I like sitting on a horse on top of a big hill and watching the wind rustle through the grass and trees.

That is so you strategically level. If you haven't noticed, the leveling system is based on multipliers. If you level your character WELL, then you will quickly surpass enemies your level. If you don't, you'll get your ass kicked. Not to mention that every 25 skills you get an advantage, which would make completing the game with a leveled character much easier than a low level. I find it cool that you don't have to spend all your time leveling your characters.
And if that STILL isn't enough, if you have the PC version, you could try this mod that adds a shitton of content and removes the level scaling of your enemies whilst keeping the game difficult.

cool man, my bad.
i still like it in a game where you can go back to the start after a while and be like "look at me now bitches, i was but a lowly farmer's son and now i'm back to massacre your puny insignificant village! bwahahaha!!"
would be impossible to implement properly in a free roaming game like oblivion though i guess

Oblivion is worthless on 360 and PS3. Fan-made mods basically make that game. It's great without them but the infinite content available for the PC version adds so much to the game.
As for Zelda, I loved pretty much all the Zelda's but that last one could have been so much better than it was. They need to add a lot more depth and some voice acting.

Yeah it's fun. Also, thanks to this thread, i'm modding my game to shit and playing again. Clocktowers, swords, aquaducts, improved lighting. Mods for this game never end.

I literally had like 100 mods running. It's so bland without them.

I play Oblivion on a PC and it IS a fuckin awesome game, but nothing comes close to beating Ocarina of Time. Nothing. That was the best game, EVAR.
But then again, thats just my opinion. And everyone is entitled to my opinion.

My favorite Zelda was and always will be The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening DX for the Game Boy Color. I'm a big fan of the very first on on NES too though

Was that the one where you collected the musical instruments on that island? If so, that was my second favorite Zelda game. I just can't remember the name of it right now... I just remember I really had alot of fun playing it.

Gothic 3 blows Oblivion out of the water once you get beyond the first few locations. Too bad it had a lot of bug problems at launch and quicksaves take so long to load. Also too bad the NPC attack can be irritating.

Oblivion is great, but it lacks the character of Zelda games. You can't beat those Nintendo characters, especially Link.
