squirrels on mushrooms (sorry, no video or pics)

well, as it usually goes, the few days I don't bring a camera or video camera with me to work, I miss some great shots/footage.
Yesterday morning, on my way to get some breakfast at work, I noticed a squirrel walking very strange, like a crab. It also didn't seem to mind me as I got closer and closer. I sort of thought to myself, "that squirrel looks like it's tripping..."
I got even closer, and it looked at me, but my foot was literally close enough to be touching it, which was very strange. I continued on my way, just thinking maybe it was hurt / dumb, but I couldn't help but to look back, and just then see it run over by two mushrooms, perch up and start nibbling on one.
Then, it just inhaled the second in two big bites, stem and all. I noticed another mushroom where I was standing, picked it and threw it by the squirrel. It landed less than 6 inches from it's head, but again didn't seem to mind at all. It barely moved it's body, just turned it's head, saw the mushroom, dragged itself to it and started eating that one.
It was probably the coolest thing I have seen in a while, and inspired my own trip this weekend
I was thinking, how do squirrels know which mushrooms make them trip? It was certainly not a cubensis, cyan or azzy. It was nothing I would have eaten, but obviously the squirrel was having a good time - how do they pass this down? I imagined sime type of squirrel shaman educating the young.

That's so cool! Whoa... and to think I assumed human beings were the only ones 'advanced' enough to take psychedelics! What a beautiful world we live in!

I saw a show very similar to the one shown above. But it wasn't on Animal Planet so it was presented in a different way. It showed a lot of the same things. I found it interesting that animals like to do drugs too. The only animal they showed doing a psychedelic was jaguar in South America. The natives eat the same kind of plant thinking it will give them the same hunting abilities of jaguar. It was cool!
