Wireless G Desktop Adapters .. Belkin or D-Link?
    #7755801 - 12/13/07 08:44 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Which do you prefer? I had a Belkin.. but i took it back cuz when i installed it, the antenna wouldn't point upwards...

but now that I have this D-link, i wish i had my belkin again cuz the best signal strength i get is 48% .. but its usually down around 38%

the belkin was almost always over 50%...

anyone use either of these wireless cards?

i think im going to back and exchange the d-link for the belkin tomorrow.

I bought some cheap ass Trendnet card for my desktop because it got the best reviews (signal, keeping connection) for the price. I haven't installed it yet. Probably will tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think.

The Belkin my GF's mom has sucks. It over heats way too much. Ive used D-Link a couple times in the past but have always preferred linksys.

Id say go D-Link out of those 2 options.

D-link abused NTP... fuck them
Belkin, ime, overheats regardless of the product.. fuck them too

Linksys has never let me down. Open Firmware unlocks some pretty cool shit, too.
Spring for the -L model, flash the firmware and never look back.

If you have problems with the reception, you could get a directional antanae... Have to mount it somewhere though.

I've got one via a USB interface (the network card is in the antanae) that I got for 80$. It will connect with my neighbor two houses down (about 500 yards) through one house and across trees and shit. I get around -70 dBm signal and -80dBm noise.

Just mounted the antanae inside my attack, as I got good enough signal that way.

If your using your own network though, this is probably overkill, but you can buy something for your needs pretty easy. Apparently they have decent signal decay over the antanae wire, which is why I went with the USB connection, to avoid this.
