A gluten-free substitute for Wild Bird Seed?

Most wild bird seed I'm looking at has wheat in it. And I definitely don't want my mushrooms making me sick!
What can I use instead? Do you think that just because they grew off of wheat, that I can get contaminated?

i'd wait for more experienced hands to weigh in, but i don't believe that gluten would find its way into the mushrooms that were growing off of it

I'm going to agree with Molasses on this one. But again, let the experts have their say
Why not go with Rye? or does that have gluten as well?

Mushrooms contain no gluten -_-. As long as you do not eat the substrate and inspect all mushroom bases don't freak out.

Mycelium consumes its food. It would be no different than you eating meat from a cow that grazed in a wheat field. If you're worried, use rye berries. RR

Rice and corn are also safe for celiacs.
If you are celiac you should know fine well what cereals are gluten free. Just take a look at the different cereals that we use and compare them to the list of gluten free cereals.
It took me under 30 seconds with google
There are certain related proteins in wheat, rye, and barley that give rise to particular peptides during digestion that are capable of triggering the responses typical of celiac disease. Only in the case of wheat can these be strictly considered to be derived from the gluten proteins.

I'd go with rye just to be safe. My girlfriend has celiacs, so I know just how little gluten it can take to make someone react. Some people can't even handle or be around gluten or they'll get sick. We don't won't your trip messed up with severe stomach pain! The pf tek is also completely gluten free!

And rye, while it doesn't contain gluten, contains proteins chains that are similar and can induce a reaction in celiacs
But as RR said, even if the substrate had gluten, the mushie won't. But if you are worried of leftover grains getting eaten accidentally go for a celiac compatible option.

Some local growers use this seeds as the PF-tek, and it work...
