First time growing

(Before I post I want to apologize if this subject has been asked before)
I am extremely interested in the cultivation of psilocybin mushrooms, but I am wondering as a first time grower which method I should take. I have a pretty basic knowledge of doing everything yourself (sterilizion, inoculation, and fruiting, using brown rice flower, mason jars, pressure cooker, etc) but I was wondering if buying a kit (like fromhttp://mushbox.com/mushroom-kits.html#myg) would be better and a more efficient use of my money. If a kit would be best which one would ya'll suggest? And what are the best spores to buy or places to buy from that you know of?

check the shroomery sponsors for spores
i'd follow the pf tek if i were you as a starting stepping stone
http://www.shroomery.org/16/Basic-Cultivation-Guides the pf tek and mmgg are good places to start, easy to follow directions and high past success rates.
supplies can be bought at home depot/mallwart/garden supply shop/natural food store
good luck and have a good time

Bah, don't bother with the kits, go get your hands dirty! Seriously though, doing it yourself lets you learn everything you need which can be applied to more advanced techniques if you decide to keep going later.
And really, how expensive are mason jars, BRF, and some sort of terrarium in your area? :p
Oh, and go for the PF Tek, it doesn't have amazing yields, and it's kind of slow. But it doesn't require a PC, and it's pretty much bomb proof.

Well I want to do it myself as well but I am going to have to grow it in a friend's sister's apartment which I can't not go every day. I know doing it yourself is good because you can inoculate other substrate jars exponentially, but since a pressure cooker is pretty expensive and contamination is a possibility in a shitty apartment, would buying pre-sterilized rye substrate jars be worth it?

presterilized jars does take some of the work out of it. Its hard to provide input without knowing how much you're expecting to grow. Also, you're putting your sister's friend at risk. The punishment for psilocybin production carries a hefty maximum penalty that I'm unaware if she's aware of or not.

It's actually a friend's sister and yes she knows the risk. She smokes weed/rolls/trips/let's minor do all these things at her apartment so she is completely aware of the law. And about growth, for the first yield we want enough for 5 of us to trip, so about 15 grams. But I wanted to know how effective the grow kits are just because I've read reports of like 50 grams+ and I know a lot of my friends will want some so selling is a possibility. I just want the most effective way to grow a lot of mushrooms.

you can sterilize pf jars with a pot and a tight fitting lid
selling is looked down upon here at the shroomery, not saying it doesn't happen, we just don't talk about it
and you'll find alot of bullshit claims about huge yields,
but growing mushrooms is a time consuming hobby, and i'm sure you'll find yourself researching more and more.

Cheap pressure cookers go for like 40 Bucks. I got mine from Wal-Mart, and even though it only holds four quarts at a time, it gets the job done and didn't cost 240 dollars.

Well, that's not very nice. Just kidding. Anyway, if contamination is a concern, pressure cooking your subs is probably not a bad idea. If you want to do PFTek, just get the stuff and do it yourself, you'll save some money that you can spend on more supplies, or something.
What do you want to do?

ok the most effective way without getting to dirty in it , can be buying a pc for 40-50 dollar as told , tyvek , rye berries , jars and then follow magash's rye bitches rye tek . Just using 5-6 grain jars you can have more then a few trips of shrooms , since shroom is taking a while you can keep yourself busy and innoc some more jars to keep yourself busy , that way you have a continuous grow cycle , and if you fail at a point the next batch is following one week later , and selling is not to be talked here ...
