Article about Psychedelic Meds in "Scientific American" Really interesting!
    #7753905 - 12/13/07 02:07 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Hello, everyone I am not a regular here but I know that this a great online community and read an article the other day that I think many of you guys would be interested in reading. I was in barnes and noble the other day and was waiting for friend to get done buying his books and I just picked up this "Scientific American" magazine and It had a guy on the front with a yellow Post it not on his forehead saying Be back soon (I'm giving this description so you guys will be able to find it easier) and in the bottom left corner it said psychedelic Meds could ease Troubled Minds. Apparently scientists have been studies the last few years and they are mainly using psilocybin and LSD to test on actual human volunteers.
In the article it said Hopkins School of Medicine published the results of a six year project on the effects of psilocybin, in which more than 60 percent of the participants reported positive changes in their attitude and behavior after taking the drug,a benefit that lasted for several months. It also said that LSD and Shrooms could be used to cure cluster headaches, anxiety, depression, and boost your creativity.

One scientist reported that no in the medical literature eases OCD symptoms as fast as psilocybin does.

You guys should have a read for yourself, because I am leaving a bunch of stuff out.

Well, no one ever said psychedelics weren't powerful. I wouldn't be surprised that if used they are used in the right way, psychedelics could cure almost any mental disorder that isn't genetic. The unfortunate downside is that it can also cause them in people who are already unstable. The mind is a place of great mystery....

Is this the most current issue? I think I have the last one, about alien cells and that new bad ass gamma ray telescope (GLAST, is that the new one?).

I find just about every article in Scientific American interesting. I'm definitely getting a subscription for christmas.

Gumby, if you enjoy science magazines I can't suggest SEED enough. A year's subscription is 14.95! You can't beat that.

Check it out, I've been subscribing for over a year. Their motto is "Science is Culture" - a beautiful publication it is!

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.
