Any Linux Users in the House?
    #7751682 - 12/12/07 10:21 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I just switched from Winblows Vista to Ubuntu 7.10.
It is smooth!  My computer runs so much quicker now.
Only problem I'm having is with downloading and installing all the old software I used to know and love.
Is there an easy way to have windows compatibility with this OS?
I want my old applications back.

Repositories, right?
There's still a few "staple" apps that only come as windows installers.
Dual boot isn't going to cut it for me.  I like to have a particular kind of full-blown, multi-tasking madness going on while I surf the web.

Thanks for the response, broseph.

Linux isn't worth the effort. I love it on devices like the GP2X but for PC use I think it sucks

I would personally kinda rather have my old windows XP back.
Vista has been raping my new computers resources hardcore though... so never again w/ that OS.

I haven't been able to download a legit installer + key crack for XP though. :nonono:

You dont need to, seriously just ring up and say you lost your key. Its like they dont give a shit about protecting xp anymore they will just give you a new key thats what I did.

Really?
Well my old laptop came loaded with windows xp.  (5 years ago)
It's not a legitimate copy... but a 'reinstall' disc.
And it won't install onto my new laptop :wtf:  regardless of working serial number.

Maybe I should call them up and be like "look, here's the deal; you kinda ripped us off.  could you please send me a free copy of XP to replace the piece of shit Vista you tried to pass off on me."
Technically I should already own it already since it is the one I've been using for the last 4 years!$%!^$@$^#^!^$#^ @!

HA!
Fucking Microsoft.

But I need the installer too.
The Re-Install Disc will only work on my old Dell laptop (which is fucked up beyond all repair)
