Hi all, first post here. I have a question regarding the hardware needed. I'm looking for something compact and easy to use and came across this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mushroom-Grow-Kit-automated-system-with-free-magic_W0QQitemZ270194696154QQihZ017QQcategoryZ45206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Now it seems like it would be perfect (it even dries the mushrooms!) and the price seems reasonable to me, but I know nothing about growing! Any thoughts?
Excellent little community, by the way.

Looks just like a Mycodome
Does seem a lot of cash for what it does you could get a lot more pf tek cakes in a rubbermaid. I'd also have a look at RR's videos as a good introduction to the PF Tek.
edit: you could do compact with: 1. Jars incubate in a cupboard. 2. fruit in a small rubbermaid with perlite (show in the video) 3. there are many really easy way to dry them.
probably cost a quater of the price.
This is part 1, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHJQrsZFQdE you can find links to the other 3 parts on youtube.

I know it's expensive for what it does, but it does seem really easy and convenient.
Thanks for the input guys.

funny how the ad for it on the e-bay listing goes on about how its great for kids to learn about mushrooms, when the mushrooms growing in it look very much like cubensis. i wish i got to learn about cubes when i was a kid!

Look up me and a few guys have a thread going where we started growing for as cheep as we can. Look for the "Cost of getting started thread" You can see how much a kit is a rip-off unless you are rich or have no time.

growing mushies can be cheap and have a greater set-up.. Shit! just buy a 10 gallon tank and grow it in there.. Includes lights, heater, air pump. Everything included in auction. Throw a clear trashbag over it.
