Oven sterilisation success

I made a batch with PF substrate prepared according to http://www.fungifun.org/pf/pf_en.htm
sterilized according to http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23369
and inoculated with GT mycelium water prepared according to http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/7943 2.5 days ago.
For now it looks very promissing, no visible contamination, no smell, good growth.

How many times did it take to have success? I mean high enough temp will do trick , but I would think getting moisture content just right is real tricky when trying this out.
Goes to show you though,if one is determined enough anything is possible. Thanx for the ghetto sterilization tecniques ANNO.
Boy you are digging deep into the archieves... frinking post is aprox three yrs old. You dont still do this do you ?

Did you read the links in the first post? The trick is to put the jars and water into a caserole with lid so they steam in the oven. Otherwise they will dry out.

Well, when you inoculate through the bottom layer, you create 4 holes. Then the top layer comes on the top if this again. So I guess the answer is no, there are no hole from the inside of the jar towards the open.

and to stay on topic, do you PC the top layer of tinfoil with the rest of it, or does it not really matter?

Yes I did read , but skim read it I just have hard time accepting that oven would not dry it out, but with the closed casserole dish filled with water , I see how you are keeping air in oven moist, thus slowing drying process of what you are baking. I have yet to find a casserole dish big enough to hold qts though One of them big ass pots for large soups and stews would work , or a tamale pot hmmm. Well if the ole PC ever dies or needs new seals and in a pinch will consider this.
