Well, you must intend more than anything else to know everything there is behind the truth. This is what you must strive to know more than anything. You obviously have intention so I will help pave the way. psitek.net is a website full of books that are all intended to bring the reader into a better understanding of the truth. The best one I would suggest to start from is The Master Key System, it has vastly changed my life for the benefit of myself and others like yourself who seek the change that is inevitable.

this one is simple.

realize that your government has been lying to you, 9/11 was an inside job, bush is an opium-funded nazi, bob marley, hunter s thompson and JFK jr were assassinated, and ron paul for president.

oh wait, where am I again... P&S? hmm..

In that case, imagine I just said something really abstract that didn't make much sense until you applied your own meaning to it.

i think the only "truth" is that truth is completely subjective, and too abstract of a concept to describe anything accurately, other than abstraction itself. (see, I have some of that P&S stuff too)

if someone said that to you then usually it means that youre not living consciously. There are two things that can be done.1. Try to look deeper into things in your everyday life. For example, commercials, Dont watch a commercial and be entertained by the pretty colors and scantily clad women, understand that you are being bombarded with subliminal messages and that some corporation is depending on you not being conscious of their mental intrusions. Dont be a mindless consumer.
2. Entheogens, a shortcut to the other side, really really speeds up the process. Start out small, go big.

How to Get Free

Walk backwards upside down
Eat with your hands
Don't sleep at night
Pretend your body is charged with electric current 1 trillion volts
Bend spoons
Scream as loud as you can
Hyperventilate
Hypoventilate
Dance wildly
Pretend to be an animal
Laugh uproariously
Forget everything
Love all of it
Do what you want
Want anything
Want nothing

--------------------
Jumped in a river, what did I see?
Black eyed angels swimming with me
Moon full of stars and astral cars, all the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and all my futures
We went to heaven in a little rowboat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt

Well no matter how objective we are, objectivity is determined by subjectivity even if it is pure abstraction. Abstract thought has been likened to be the main cause of any type of contribution to the human race. It used to be abstract to believe that things not seen make up all exsistence, or the world as a sphere. This is a progression isn't it? Anything other than abstract is either the current or the old, which get us nowhere.

the way i see it: everyone is asleep. if you realise you are asleep, your dream can become lucid, you can control reality. create your own one. who knows what's out there once you wake up. take pleasure in the illusion and you will eventually wake up. even if this is not the answer... at least you enjoyed the ride.

i dont understand why everyone always wants to wake up. be content with what you have, enjoy yourself and help others enjoy themselves. if you wake up great, if you don't, you have never known any better anyway. take it as it comes.

it's a continuous process of letting go of what you know to see what is happenning.
rather than learning
it is mostly unlearning
rather than adding layers of external ideas
it is continuous clearing away of the dried mucous after sexy ideas
have come and gone...

IMO, the difference between "awake" and "asleep," philosophically speaking, is that those who are asleep think that they can perceive Truth, and those who are awake realize that we are all guessing.

I think it's foolish of us to sustain that we know the Truth.
Of course, there are things which can be considered as being true and that we acknowledge, but this doesn't mean that we can talk about a universal Truth.

Yes, but there's plenty of reliable evidence to sustain the existence of China. It was not what I was referring to.
Stating that you know the Truth implies that you have reached the ultimate level of knowledge. Which instantly implies that there's nothing more beyond that. And that the truth that you know applies for everybody, everywhere and each circumstance.
Can you say that? :strokebeard:

For blind people it is not.
The Sun will not exist forever. THIS makes it at best a momentarily truth.
Also it is bright compared to what we know. Appreciated with the measurements that we use.
Can you tell for certain if the Sun is bright for the rest of the universe?

truth doesnt apply to the universe because it is unexplored IMO. I say it applies to this world. And the sun it still bright to the blind. you can feel its warmth.

So how can you say you know the truth when you don't have all the data from all the sources which are required in order to attest it's validity?

Quote:

I say it applies to this world.

Which makes it a common truth not the Truth.

Quote:

Warmth is not a quality that you find solely in bright things.

For blind people, the fact the sun warms them does not hold any importance when it comes to the visual quality.

I can't help it but remain amazed when someone gets pissed if their ideas are challenged.
And it's not because I don't understand where they're coming from, but because I know what's on my mind when I do that.
Anyways, it's far more fruitful to pass those fixed ideas and discover communication and the exchange of ideas.

once again, it is funny to see that nothing has changed since Greek times  :jester: . socrates, or in this case, mushroomtrip, points out a flaw in someone's logic or asks them to clarify something, and euthyphro, or in this case, ts727, is too busy or above it all to waste any more time on the subject

if we evolve any faster the other animals are going to start getting jealous  :monkeydance:

Guessing about what? Being awake is realizing truth.

Note that I said "philosophically speaking." Those who are arrogant enough to claim that their philosophy is the TRUTH are asleep.

you guys are somewhat ridiculous. Forgive me for having a job , im totally down for discussing this since i seem to be sooo wrong. Im not saying that my views are truth and im not claiming to have all the answers. Im just a regular guy that thinks about things. You all act as if youve been aware youre entire lives. Im fairly sure everyone remembers the time when they were asleep. We all had our turning points.
Im not arrogant in any way, nor was i pissed off. Honestly i think you guys wanted me to be mad so you could say condescending things.

Look for a book called "In Search of the Miraculous" by P.D. Ouspensky

Also, the book "The Human Biological Machine as a Transformational Apparatus" by E.J. Gold is a great aid to understanding Gurdjieff's teachings.

One of the most important ways to "awaken the machine" is to pay close attention to your physical postures and movements.

There are very good reasons for this that I don't have time to go into right now...

Try to think about your parts, your arms, your legs, hands, ect. Think of their parts, veins, muscles, connective tissues. Now think of the parts of those parts, protiens, fats, carbohydrates. Their parts? Carbon containing molecules. Their parts? Electrons, neutrons, protons. Their parts? Quarks, neutrinos, ect. And the parts of those parts and the parts of their parts ad infinitium. Once you get to the bottom, there aren't any more parts, just one whole, and this whole is you, and I, and your dog, and this planet. On that scale, it doesn't matter whether you are John Smith or Jupiter, the whole is homogeneous because it is everything, the embodiment of the perfect normal curve.

you get to enjoy things when you just treat life as a trip and just go with it. Learn to accept things. You might not agree with someone, that doesn't make them wrong. there can be more than one right. Any point can be argued and defended from the right perspective. Act completely within your own right, but do not infringe on another mans. it is his to have.

I am adding my 2 cents of wisdom, ignorant to the fact that somebody is going to disagree with it, to make everyone agree on the issue, so that we don't disagree, because that would be terrible.  I hate when things are terrible, I cannot function unless they are not terrible!!

Generally, one is asleep, then dreaming, then waking, then in samadhi on oneself. So deep ignorance, then irreality, then reality, then state of self awareness free of objects save for self. Then after this long equation takes off one never loses state of self awareness even when asleep. Then it's as if one is aware of that, and all the rest at the same time. That is hyperawake. What most gurus are describing.
