Ohz Snowz-winter withdrawls

It's fuckin cold up here. Here's a couple pics from this summer, along with the ice-crystals that I am now forced to hunt, because the mushrooms are all froze. Oh yeah, and a drawing I did of p. zapotecorum, inspired by Cactu. Shit, I know this isn't some phatty mushroom hunt, but I'm bored and I think the cold is making me partially retarded.

I think these are some type of leucoagaricus.

 some type of collybia:

I only found a couple kinds of crystals (I hunt for mushrooms here in summer):

And this is psilocybe zapotecorum in a miraculous landscape:

random pic from a couple months ago (I mushroom here in summer and ski here in winter)

Thanks for that. Sometimes I need a reminder that summer exists still. Although I did not have much of one here in the PNW. It was cold and rainy all of august.

yo casgoodie, I thought they were horse agarics too, but on closer inspection they had white gills, and sort of had a lepiotaish look. So I tried to figure out what the hell they were, and came up with leucoagaricus, which apparently has edible species, I didn't risk it though. Yeah, there can be some really trippy, geometrical ice formations around here, generally close to water. It doesn't get above freezing much around here so they just keep growing, like plants in the spring. Still, not as cool as your rare psilos. Props!!!

Subbs are pretty rare up here, and are the only active that is gatherable in quantity. There season is in may and june. I only know a couple other people who have even found actives here. There's a lot of great edibles though. I'd say come up here sometime from july to september. The summer's really short, you can blink and miss it. I'd be happy to show you around though. Yeah baeos would have been awesome, but it's even cooler that you found such an uncommon psilocybe, even if they arn't that potent (probably).

oooooo, havre. Not much happenin up there. Kind of close to glacier though. Ummmm, I've found oysters, hedgehogs, morels (tons), chanterelles, king boletes (tons), agaricus, shaggy manes, and others. Activewise I've only found panaeolus subbalteatus (I have a huge patch), and some other active panaeolus that I couldn't identify (was growing from beaver feces, and sticks, yeah beaver feces). The best is just going out into the mountains and wandering around undisturbed, enjoying nature. Oh, and of course finding deliscious edibles while your at it.

This is kind of a creepy little cabin-I'd live there though; close to skiing close to mushrooms.
I could cook up these boletes and chanterelles there!

Oh wait that was like 4 months ago, and now I'm bored out of my mind, oh that's right going to Kauai in one week ooowa ooowa. whhooop. Just got done artificially tanning so I don't get burned when I get there, and just got the smallest speedo I could find, they don't make xxxxxxxxs any more. booooooooo!!! Oh yeah, and a layer of bug repelling latex, which must be worn at all times. Shit I should still be able to enjoy it. Anyway, it will be sick. I'm gonna take a lot of mushroom photos while I'm there, and try to find copelandia cyanescens. Smoke gooood weed, and live it up!

Thanks man, I will. Yeah, those boletes and chanterelles were turned into a mighty fine pizza. parmesan, basil pesto, boletes, chanterelles, tilapia, and onions, on boboli bread(the shit), was a delectable meal.

Get out of this frozen tundra and find some copes! Cant wait.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

You should keep us all up to date with your Hawaii finds. I probably do not have to tell you that. This is a really great post. I really like this little happy community that we have going here! Sometimes it just brightens my day to come here and feel all of the good vibes. My digital colleagues.

hey curecat. Yeah, I liked those south of the border style shrooms alot, and thought it was very neat that zapos grow out of the sides of those ravines. I thought it would be cool to have air, and land spiral in, with the mushroom spiraling outward from the center. By the way good job Alan and Cactu on those finds.
The snowflakes don't provide the same rush as finding a nice fat bolete, but they are all I have right now. My little icy friends. It's cool though how they grow, and look sort of like rhizomorphic mycelium. Bizarre how so many things in nature have such a similar, geometric intelligence.
yo cactu, yeah I think you'd like it alot up here. Not as many psilocybes, but amazing in so many other ways!!! You could probably survive without your zapos for a couple weeks. I'm making prints of the drawing, and will send one to you shortly. Peace.
Delty-Nice man, that is fucking sick. This is an awesome time to go somewhere tropical. Before the really good skiing, but during the cold!!! I hope you find some nice copes. Maui supposedly has an awesome population of cyanescens, and apparently there is an isolated valley where non-native chameleons can be found (the crazy suckers that look like triceritops)!!! Have an awesome time and bring some of that northern luck down there for the cyan score. I look forward to seeing pictures.
Ganzig-yeah, I'm deffinitely gonna take tons of pictures. There's so many interesting things there. Hopefully some good edible mushrooms too. Maybe I'll find some actives too, like you so often do up there in Oregon. Good vibes back at ya.
Peace:
