Nice excuse to leave the lawn maintenance to your neighbours.
I had a friend in SD, who after showing how to hunt Subbs, found tons growing in his backyard.

They grew in my yard two weeks before i could tell the difference between them and foes. It sucked finding that one out.

implee, I can help you look for some when spring gets here. I think they'll be harder to come across until the warm/wet stuff comes back.

Yeah man, the houston weather has been NUTS this winter... Its been Freezing (well not freezing but cold as fuck to houstonians) then its been warm then cold then warm then freezing again, totally unpredictable... I forget each year that we even have winter until it happens.

well, until the grass is healthy, I don't think they'll be back, so we're talking at least March or April.

That exact same thing happened to me. Except the time frame was much larger.
I had been searching for actives in my area, gymnopolis spectabilis and bluefoot, to no avail. I pretty much gave up, and saw some P Subbs growing in the grass. I didn't give it a second thought and walked right passed them because I thought there was no way I was going to actually find any actives that season.
About a month later I looked on the internet and kicked myself.

Very nice finds, Pinhead!!
I love walking my dog and running into a nice little patch of Subbs. But damn! That's definitely not a little patch. I've never had the pleasure of seeing a patch that big.
Congrats!

Of course. He was recollecting a flush from a month previous after first reading about/seeing photos of a species he was yet unfamiliar with. Sooooo, I'm not sure he had da skillz to differentiate Foes from Subbs.
