Went for a drive through the ritzy 'hood behind me. Found a lawn with a SHITLOAD of subbs (and foes) and a couple of patches of Lepista nuda.

This will make a decent meal, I think
I'll post the subbs in another thread.

fry 'em up with some vegetables. I find that mushrooms alone can get overwhelming. They are good, but they need a side to give your pallet a refresh during eat time.
nice find.
It was a really good mushroom growing day today, around 60 degrees, very humid, and just overall nice day for mushroom grown. Unfortunately, it has been the only non freezing day this week, so I've only seen about 2 different kinds of mushrooms today. They are all pretty much in sleep mode.
But i wanna find some blewits. A nice shroomery member was kind enough to give me a print, so I'll put that to good use when the thaw comes.
You're blewits look funny to me though. They look like oysters crossed with blewit...

Nice PinheadX! What was the habitat (aside from the ritzy part)? I notice our local Whole Foods has them for sale at $29.00 LB. Let us know what you thought about the flavor, I've eaten these on several occasions and place them among my favorites.

They were growing in grass on a lawn, in a fairy ring type cluster (only not curved around...), down in the thatch. They tend to be hard to harvest, since you have to just about dig them out of the grass.
These are field blewitts. They are different from wood blewitts because of the environment and substrate, but they are the same thing as far as I have discovered. Of course, I've never had or seen in person a wood blewitt before, so it could be very different.
The mycelium looks like thick light purple spiderwebs growing in the grass. Like when cobwebs are all stuck together, or when you see an egg sac or something similar. Very cool stuff.
I've eaten these several times before, and I love 'em. I made these into a mushroom gravy for steaks tonight.

nice, I made a killing $$$$ on blewits this season. Found huge meaty specimens.
a small haul;

They're a really delicious mushroom, by far one of my favorites. They are seriously delicious just raw, and in salad's and stuff. I gave a bunch too my boss and he made this delicious Blewit lasagna.

they're supposed to be slightly toxic if not cooked... I have undercooked them and gotten a bit of a stomach ache, so I don't know if I'd eat them raw or not. YMMV.
