just so no one else has to look it up.
Agaricus brasiliensis A Brief History
Agaricus brasiliensis1 [a.k.a. Agaricus blazei Murill, ABM Mushroom, cogumelo do sol (sun mushroom), cogumelo de Deus (god's mushroom), Brazil's mushroom, Royal Sun Agaricus or Himematsutake in Japanese] is a mushroom originated from village of Piedade in the state of São Paulo, in Brazil. It flourishes in the hot weather of Brazil. It has been gaining worldwide attention because the population in that area have lower rate of cancer and other adult diseases that resulted in longer lifespan.
It contains the highest levels of β-(1-6) D glucan of any mushroom known in the world, a polysaccharide, known to enhance the body's immune system. Today, it is widely recognized for its ability to enhance the function of the innate immune response and the acquired immune response against a broad range of foreign invaders to the body.
A Japanese-Brazilian farmer first discovered the Agaricus brasiliensis in the summer of 1965. In March 1995, Dr. Kazunari Satake M.D., Ph.D., commenced a three-year clinical study with cancer patients. Dr. Satake announced the results of his research to the Japanese Cancer Congress in 1998.
Since 1968, Dr. Takashi Mizuno Ph.D., has studied the bioactive substances in fungi, especially those related to anti-tumor active polysaccharides. At the 12th Symposium of the 7th General Meeting of Technical Discussion Group for Fungi (held at Kinki University in Nara, Japan 1995), Dr. Mizuno presented his results with the following, quite remarkable finding:

Its not free to fly to where it comes from then get someone to show you around for the times it takes to find it then the cost to ship all the specimens back in one piece. Then getting it to grow into a half decent specimen time and time again. If its so free go pick some up for yourself. Thats like saying gold or rare coral should be free.

yes. but there is something about it that doesnt make it available like other medicinal cultures for fair prices. most likely someone's greed to make it exclusive

I think it might be supply and demand. Seeing how they just kinda started to get into this mushroom for Cancer cure. Then the demand for it is gonna sky rocket and the suppliers will have trouble keeping up.
