Hey, was wondering if you guys could help.
Iv just successfuly grown y first lot shrooms using PF-TEK cakes from a spore syringe.
I am currently trying out "liquid culture", i used the honey water tek with glass added to mix. after 5 days there was quite a lot of growth at the bottom. at this point i added a little C2O2 (3cc) an put it in the fridge.
2 days later a shuck it all up an an pulled it through into syringes an in inoculated in the usual way.
is been 2 weeks an i have seen no change in the cakes, was i supposed to shake the jar up or should have i sucked the culture from the bottom of the jar where it had settled.
your help or advice on this would be much appriciated
Thanks guys! x

C2O2 is one of the great mysteries of Chemistry. It is a molecule that is supposed to exist but nobody has been able to detect it, so I very much doubt you added it to your LC

ive heard of people putting h2o2 in lcs before they pc them, something about it helping sterilize and that the o cooks out leaving h2o. im not sure but im thinking h2o2 is used to kill spores, but myc can survive it.

sounds like you are in over your head. STick to pf tek until you start to master mycology. When you can start working in a sterile enviroment you can grow some cultures on a petri and then you can do lc's. I have not had good luck using spore syringes with lc since pf went out of business

Why on earth would you put peroxide in an LC?
If your LC is sterile, and you add spores or tissue in a sterile way, there is no need for peroxide.
if you didn't do it all in a sterile way and it is contaminated, peroxide isn't going to magically decontaminate it.

"Nibin" nobody has said my jars were contaminated, or that i was hoping for any contamination to magically go away with peroxide!! and it is all over this website that adding peroxide after myc growth is recomended to prevent any possible contamination!
Thanks for your help guys iv altered the temperature and my jars are colonising, really slowely but getting there.

It is all over this website that you should NOT use peroxide EXCEPT for treating a substrate or casing ALREADY CONTAMINATED with COBWEB MOLD.
Only cobweb, nothing else.
Just do a search for peroxide and you will see millions of posts by the old hands repeating this over and over again.
