I have used old computer power supplies to run fans and stirring devices. I believe thats what you want.

even thou Ive recently realized the importance of lights, Im gonna avoid LEDs. Like RR said they are to expensive atm. so Im not sure if you still wanna go that path.

Wall warts are the least expensive solution... Radio Shack overcharges for them, though. It might be worth ordering one online from Digi-Key, Jameco or Mouser (might even try eBay.)
If all you need is to go from 120V AC to ~160V DC, you can get a bridge rectifier and convert it straight to DC, but chances are you'll want to step down the voltage first.

You could always series like 75-80 2V LEDs w/ that voltage... Not that I would try such a thing
Awesome idea seg_x, that completely went under the radar for some reason. I actually have an extra power supply on hand.
