hi. questions.
what happened to the creatures of the sea during the flood? did they die also or were they somehow special?
if noah and his clan were the only human survivors, where did the philistines and other non jews come from?

zeitgeistmovie.com you'll see that most of the stories in the bible come from other stories told long before the bible was ever written.

i like that i do. but, the story in the bible said that god would kill all flesh. have you ever had a good swordfish steak? or a nice slab of fresh tuna at the sushi bar. this, i think, is flesh. i have sent this to a hassidic rabbi friend for interpertaion. he has not yet gotten back to me. i will let you know. any other ideas would be good.

Noah already graduated And you can live through anything if magic made it.

I was actually just joking. I know nothing of the philistines. I had just recently been listening to Kayne West and he mentioned this about Noah. Seemed appropriate, maybe not. Probably not even talking about that Noah, maybe though. Magic?? Dang do I have questions. Feel like I was overcome at one point. Graduation just seemed an applicable term in the song for overcoming being overcome, ya know??

Although Biblical literalism and that zeitgeist movie are both BS, I should point out that Noah would've been pre-Jewish. I think the Jews would recognize Abraham as the first real Jew. Noah would've been a progenitor of the entire human race. Also, the flood legend occurs in countless other cultures, notably in the Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh.

yes. i discovered that today when i got to the part about god turning abram into abraham. so much to learn. i really find it much easier to take huge doses of p cubensis in order to go where god is. a donde est el dios.

i hear this a lot, but no one cares to clarify. so instead of blindly believing this movie, you think i should blindly believe you? i'll bet the movie makes much more sense than you can.

man that was good. have you seen the pharmacratic inquisition? not the one that's free online, but the updated version. i'd really like to hear your insight on that one. if you haven't seen the updated one and would like a copy i can mail you one. by the way, what religion are you? what do you believe?

I have not seen either version. I certainly can't turn down a free dvd.

I loosely define myself as gnostic. I borrow ideas from both Western and Eastern esoteric traditions, though I lean more towards Western occultism. At the same time, I don't really "believe" anything, or least I try not to. I see fixed beliefs as restricting my experience of reality, and instead have relative meta-beliefs, or suspicions. As such, I suppose you could call me an agnostic gnostic.

The way I understand it, the flood wasn't the entire earth, moreso something like a passage of mountain giving way to the sea and human life really hadn't expanded past this region at this point, so it's possible there was life outside of this region correct? I could be wrong, I'm not a theologian.

That's a more historically accurate way of looking at it, but for the sake of this thread, I was operating within the context of Biblical literalism. It seems there was probably some historical basis for the flood myth which got more exaggerated as it was retold over time. I've heard a theory of how it may have took place in what is now the Black Sea.

I don't know the location of my version, but I do know exaggeration is a key in propoganda to make the perception larger than the truth.

i continue to read. i have a friedn who is an expert. he is 70 and has an infection in his toe so i am letting him be for a bit. he is an official hassidic so he ought to be able to fill me in. i am just impatient is all.
i am finding it an interesting read. for instance, i thought noah was jewish, but that did not come until later when abram became abraham. who knew?
i was a little turned off by the snake duping eve i have to tell you. i think that sets up sexism on a big scale.
