eating cheese...

I eat quite a bit of cheese every night...usually before I sleep. Reason for this is for one, I love cheese; and secondly, I feel like I sleep much better.
I've heard that cheese is suppose to be very bad for the heart. How long do I have to live eating cheese every night?

Cheese ain't good for me right before bed. My body doesn't like having to digest shit like that when it is trying to get down with sleepy time.

Cheese is the devil's food. It tastes so good, but it is so bad for most people (unless they are descendents of a VERY long line of pastoralists... like people from India.) The rest of us just aren't cut out for it, didn't evolve the right enzymes to digest it.

do you have a link to support this? i've always been able to eat a fair amount of real cheeses, but not processed cheeses, with little trouble digesting them...and i know the irish weren't really pastoralists

No...I didn't read this anywhere. I just kept having people tell me I'm going to die at a young age because I eat cheese daily.
But maybe I should eat less

I could look up a source if you want, but I got it from the naturopath I used to see when I was a teen, and, if I remember correctly, my archaeology class - when we were talking about evolution.
I'm Irish too, and I can pack the cheese back pretty heavily. The only thing is, after a couple weeks of doing so I get really phlegmy and constipated, and eventually a bit itchy on my fingers and thighs. It's gross. So I do eat cheese sometimes, but only in moderation. I try and avoid eating it more often than once or twice a week. My body just isn't cut out to digest the stuff. Remember, milk is designed to be digested by an animal that has the luxury of 4 stomaches. It's heavy duty stuff. I do, however, find yogurt just fine. Milk is the worst.
Moses, if you're concerned, it probably wouldn't hurt to take a breather on it. Save it for a treat rather than a staple.

Cheese is delicious and nutritious and has been eaten for thousands and thousands of years.
At the pace that the human body adapts to new things, any changes in the human body necessary to utilize this food source have long since taken place.

It's been eaten for thousands and thousands of years by pastoralists. Anyone who traces thier genetics back to ancient pastoralists likely has the necessary adaptation. Most Europeans, Asians, and Native Americans have only had dairy in thier diet for at most a few centuries... or a few decades. It isn't long enough to adapt. Many people have made the necessary adaptations, but many have not and there is a clear genetic explanation for this. I'm not coming out of left field here, it's a documented fact. People from parts of Africa and India have enzymes that many people from North America, Asia, much of Europe and elsewhere simply don't have. Many many people complain that dairy makes them phlegmy - this is because they aren't digesting it properly which is because of thier genetics. It's a mild enough symptom that it's easy to ignore, and most people do.

I'm definitely not genetically equipped to break down dairy proteins. When I was growing up, I thought that it was normal to have a box of Kleenex in every room of the house! Everyone in my family was chronically congested from eating dairy all the time. It wasn't until I experimented with skipping dairy that I noticed the absence of certain symptoms.
Even if some of us may be able to deal with it, I think it is worthwhile to go without for a month in order to find out how you feel without it.

a fellow iris cheese lover right here. never really had any problems with it. then heard from different people that we can't actually properly digest dairy products. so i cut down anyway. and have felt a huge increase in energy, whereas i used to be pretty slothy, the times i cut dairy out of my diet i am filled with energy.
but *Shrug* i cant help but eat it,it just tastes so good,i just try to keep the whole "everything in moderation" thing going on. even managed to cut down the weed aswell. so yeah you're not doing yourself any favours eating that much cheese, but maybe just try cut down a bit and see how you feel. no need to give it up entirely imo, at the end of the day, everythings out to kill you these days.
