can you grow pot without lights, just leaving it indoors to absorb passive sunlight from a window? will it flower and bud properly?
basically, can you treat it just like any other house plant, or do you need to get lights?

I have never tried that, but have seen a friend try. Nothing really came of it. He put some clones by a window in spring, and by fall they were tall, lanky, could hardly stand up on their own, and had no bud's worth smoking.
They had gotten to about 4 feet tall, put into 5 gallon pots, had lot's of branches. But no buds.

Heya,
On southern windows, on summer time you can get small yields from Lowryder strain plants. Lowryder is autoflower so it will flower normally under all kinds of lighting sequences. I will, however, stress the word SMALL when talking about yield..

Yeah, YOu could grow lowryder or anything else with dominant C. ruderalis genetics. However, the amount of light is going to be almost too little if even that. I would suggest HPS or MH and a nice incognito location.

Lowryder will flower in any lighting schedule, doesn't matter if it's 12/12 or 24/0. 12/12 is better though, as any plant needs it's dark time to feed vital nutrients to the plant, helping it grow healthier and bigger.

Yeah you can.. There is a certain strain called Lowryder and Lowryder#2 and all the other crosses with it that are ment for low light or stealth conditions.. I bought a pack of seeds and tried them out in the window seal myself.. Succesful window grow.. But I find buds grown under a HPS way better then just window light, unless the sun is shining directly through it on to the plants..
Oh and each strain of cannabis has its own needed conditions you just got to look around and find a legit well known online seed bank to buy from..

outdoor is the easiest while still getting good yields and decent quality...in my opinion....

There could still be problems though.. Dont get me wrong I love outdoor organic bud, the flavor and potency of it is just amazing.. But I think growing indoors is better... When growing outdoors you have to worry about pests, nutes, animals, people seeing your crop, police seeing your crop, if your plant has enough water or not and if not how your going to get the water to your crop ever 1-3 without being noticed and survelanced, if there are male plants in the general area and if their pollen will get to your females..
I find hydroponic bud or just a plant in a pot under a HPS the easiest way to grow in my opinion..

to each their own. i used to grow hemp outdoors in the middle of bramble marshes. cut a little trail in, and prepare the ground. i went there a total of 3 times. to plant/prepare...2 months later to check, and final to harvest. pretty easy if you got a good spot (and weather is acting "normal")
but hemp just grows, so you can get pretty lazy with it...but it will reflect in the product.

Yeah Hemp for me is no bueno.. I like the dank buds covered in crystals... There are some outdoor strains though like Afgani Poison that will just flourish and give you some nice buds..
