Hmm. I seem to be against the grain on this one, but I prefer dry. I really think it comes down to personal preference, so here's been my experience with the two.
Fresh: Slower onset. I believe this is because there is more to digest and metabolize. A feeling of flow: There seems to be a slower, more relaxed pace to the fresh experience. It may be linked to the onset. Your body may just be feeding you the psilocin at a slower rate, thus making it easier to adjust to. - Visual spectrum increase. I have always noticed that blacks and whites just appear to be much more vivid with fresh. I remember a few times just staring at my computer speakers in awe at how dark black they appeared...like they were reflecting absolutely no light at all. It was a darker black than I had ever seen before. - Visuals seems to be slower paced or more fluid. Things just seem more liquid-like. As if everything were made from pure water, rather than a goo. - Clearness of mind: My thoughts tend to be slower-paced, but they tend to have more weight behind them. I feel far more insightful and calm.
Dry -Quicker onset. The come up with dry gives me far more of that 'butterflies in my stomach' feeling. I tend to go from no visuals to full blown rather suddenly. - Energy. I tend to get an experience closer to acid with dry. While I still feel like laying there, I am also more willing to go on a walk or begin a new experience with dry. - As stated above, rather than 'watery visuals', things appear to be made of a more viscous material. Also, rather than crisp colors, I tend to see vivid rainbows around nearly everything.
I see no real reason why fresh would be different from dry, but for whatever reason, there really feels like there is. I cannot scientifically account for this other than placebo and maybe the extra material in fresh.
Anyway, I'd be interested to see how others compare the experiences.

I prefer fresh as drying them is a pain in the ass without a food dehydrator. Also, you don't have to wait, and I personally think they don't taste as bad fresh. I have never noticed any difference in the trip, and will eat them either way.

I always have more alive neon electric explosive visuals with fresh.
Fresh trips are always noticeably more spiritual for me
Freshies make it easier for me to OBE on mushrooms.
Fresh + Syrian Rue = Godhead, IMO
They take longer to come up, but just eat a little more to compensate (3g dry, 35-40g wet) and the quality of the trip is incredible! Blows my mind!
I've had some amazing dry trips too, but i typically have to up my dosage to 5-7+ grams to get where 40g-50g of fresh will take me.
I eat dry 95% of the time though. Fresh is for special treats.
Fresh Pan Cyans = Holy Grail!
About to try ethanol psilocybin extract, will see how it compares to fresh mushies.
-------------------- Teonanacatl, open up my eyes This sacrament, this prayer, beyond the world of lies Guide me clearly through that which I dont understand Give me strength to find the path Help me fight any demons as you flow through me wholely This is my prayer, that you protect me from evil, and bring me closer to peace And open up my eyes, so i can see things as you do Amen

damn straight!

"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far away, nearby, and invisible. And there is where God lives, where the dead live, the spirits and the saints, a world where everything has already happened and everything is known. That world talks. It has a language of its own. I report what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and brings me to the world where everything is known. It is they, the sacred mushrooms, that speak in a way I can understand."

Hmm and here I thought that people preffered dry mushrooms more... I always thought I was "odd" for liking fresh ones better. I only have tripped three times (once fresh, other two dry) on mushrooms so I can't really base my feelings on a lot of experience, but the experience that I did have is supported by what most of you said. Here's how I view the two (I'm keeping science out of this):
Fresh: More sympathetic, more intimate and close to me. It feels like the shrooms are about my age - they joke around with me and are sort of friends to me (aside from ofcourse being the teacher). All the profound realizations don't crush you - they come kindly with a humorous side to it. Mainly, for me, fresh is all about liquid love. Freshness is the beauty, fluidity and the vibrancy of eternal youth and love.
Dry: 1st time - Although the reasons for my "failure" in this trip are probably mine (I think I was too tired, burntout and rash about doign them that night) - nevertheless I still am holding the dry shrooms responsible for some of it. I started coming up, and wham - I became stupid. I couldn't talk anymore, but not because I went past language - but because I just fell through some little psychadellic crack and got stuck in a go-between station between here and there. I was unable to function at a normal level, but I was unable to transcend and pass on to higher forms. The most prevalent feeling I remember was this: I was pressed up against the barrier, the "bubble" that seals us off from "beyond" and I did not have enough force to penetrate it and break out. I spent 4 hours in a blank, dull state - uttering nonsense and thinking life has no point.
2nd time - This time I took a lesser dose (because I had no more : \ ) but the effects were profound. After dosing, I was sitting chatting to my friends on Skype when these "electro-sonic bursts of energy" started zapping my brain so hard my ears buzzed. I got off the computer, thinking it was technology that was interfering with my trip. However, as I lay in bed surrounded by darkness, the electro-therapy didn't cease. I continued getting zapped really hard. I thought back to my "fresh" shrooms experience - of how I talked to them and asked them to take away my fear and be nice to me. I tried communicating this time as well. I spoke aloud and asked to udnerstand why this is happening and is this some sort of punishment... No reply, the shroom spirit didn't give a shit. I ate the shrooms, and the master-magician was going to work the magic, he had no time for my petty worries... The electroshocks became more and more frequent until I felt like I was being tazered. Then, some switch inside me turned on, and I suddenly was in the "flow", navigating the electro-magnetic currents that pulse through our world. I put on some Basshunter on my mp3 and bathed in electric ecstacy for an hour or two - realizing how lucky I was, that the doors of perception were open to me... In short - the image of dried mushrooms that I perceived is as follows: Where the fresh ones are youthful, humorous and sympathetic, the dry ones are like old shamans: penetrating, powerful and formidable - they don't play games.
Allright, I've done my best to illucidate my experience with fresh and dry P. Cubensis (btw fresh ones were Hawaiian strain, dry ones I'm pretty sure Mexicana, but not 100%).
Hope this helps someone, peace
