Why psychedelics?

I consider myself to be a pretty experienced tripper so, in doing it alot, have come to realize what it's all about...for me anyway... It's not about the hallucinations, being fucked up, or what have you. It's about being in tune with everything. Really opening up the passages to different ways of thinking and alternate realities. Eating this magic fungis has really pryed me eyes open to all these things and has brought me closer with life and my surroundings. So, I'll get to the fucking question! I was wondering what you people have gotten out of tripping and your reasons for eating the flesh of the gods? thank you and peace

I do them for a mixture of reasons. One would be that I really enjoy the experience, the weirdness and so on. Another would be that I enjoy seeing the world in a different light, seeing the beauty that I am usually too busy to sit down and notice. And perhaps the main reason is a deeper connection to music. Once you've heard some albums on shrooms/acid, it's hard to ever not hear it that way again, even sober.

I like the loss of reality and it's fun of course. But the thing I gain most from shrooms is being able to view myself through the third person. This has taught me a lot about who I am as a person.

I do it for the obvious reasons - it's fun, you see stuff that you would never see under any circumstances, and it's relaxing. I also do it because it makes things clear. Questions about my personality are answered and mysteries of life become revealed. Finally, I mushrooms because they are a cure for my obsessive compulsive disorder. For days after I trip, I feel more able to let things be. Most importantly, I get less irritated at everyday annoyances and I can live my life more like I should.

I wrote a post on this a while ago but I can't find it now!
