It's basically a gravity bong but with less mess. I'll have to try that
But you still have the problem with exhaling... that's where most of my stench comes from... so I use a blowtube when I need to

Exactly. It's basically a reverse gb of sorts. Works very well in my experience. Conserves weed too.
BrAiN, ya, I used a blowtube after every hit when smoking in the dorms. So essential. I had friends who wouldn't even open their fucking window when smoking! I was like cmon dude youre gonna bring everyone down if you keep that shit up.

Haha, the ole doob tubes. They do work. We eventually used (started with tp rolls) empty water bottles for these! Poke a hole in the bottom and stuff it with dryer sheets. Then you can just put your mouth over the original bottle opening to blow out your hit. It was a bit less ackward.
Also, and more importantly I think, you need to create an airflow going out of your room. Get a box fan and put it in a window facing out. Then take pillows, blanket, w/e and stuff them in the remaining empty space around the fan. The idea here is to get a seal going around the fan (doesn't have to be perfect). Then crank the fan. If you did it right it should create an airflow going from the hall out the window. You can even test how well you did by taking a lighter to the cracks of your door. If you did it right the flame should clearly be blowing in towards you. If no air is going out into a hallway, no smoke or smell will be either. We smoked ALL the time like this in the dorms, and never really had an issue.

Vaporiser, and toke your hits out of the window. I have done the test with friends (one day they take the first hits, I go out of the room, come back after ten minutes and don't smell anything, then vice versa) and there's little smell. Just smells a bit like cooking, but the cannabis aroma doesn't last long.
A shame in some ways, hash & nag champa incense I think would be a lovely idea

Do vaporizers stink up your room with weed smell (including when you exhale)?
Personally if I REALLY REALLY don't want to get caught I'll roll a small J and go for a quick walk outside. I've gone for walks at night with ppl and actually ROLLED and smoked the whole thing without them even knowing.. despite the fact that I was walking next to them. Funny shit. I like to pride myself in that skill.
But some days are just crappy and you wanna stay indoors.

It still smells like pot, but it doesn't smell like you are smoking it.

I only half cook it, that way it never gets to the burnt popcorn stage. Unless I'm monged and forget there's bud in there (I always turn it off though, paranoid). Then it's crispy dry and I reckon keeps well. Well enough to last weeks untill I cook with it.

I saw that someone on the forums (can't remember who it was) made a smoking contraption using activated charcoal. Has anyone tried this? Does it work better than the drier sheets?

I have gotten this one down to a science.
Here is the easiest way: Use a bowl/bubbler. Make a spoof/blow tube with cardboard roll filled with dryer sheets. Spark the bowl and immediately cover the bowl after each hit so that there is no side stream smoke. Blow the smoke into the spoof and you're good.
Now my roommate ONLY smokes blunts so we had to figure out something more elaborate. There are two ways of doing this.
This is the best way: Our room's ventilation recirculates the air in every room. I taped a trashbag over the intake vent and left the outflow vent open. We turn on the air and put a towel under the door, open the windows and put a fan in them. Then just smoke away. The fresh air that is flowing in pushes the smoke out of the room and the trash bag over the return vent prevents the smoky air from being recirculated in the apartment(which prevents it from getting near the front door. Of course using a spoof will help minimize smell, but my roommate hates using them.
Second best way: If you are too lazy to tape over the return vent, there should be a switch on the circuit breaker that kills the heat/ac flow. If not there's usually an "off" option on the thermostat. Turn off whatever ventilation system you have. Turn on the fan over the oven full blast (if you have one). Put a towel under the door. Do some preemptive measures to cover up smell. Make some popcorn, cook something with a lot of garlic, spray air freshener (axe works really well) etc. Put a fan facing out window. Stand by the fan while smoking and let side stream smoke and the stuff you exhale go into the fan. Again, use a spoof to be extra careful.
Your safest bet for covering up smells is always to cook something that has a very strong odor like popcorn, garlic, onions, curry, bacon... You get the idea.
We also used to use this really concentrated air freshener called Blunt Power. It comes in a million varieties and isn't too pricey. Here's the website http://www.bluntpower.com/
Also, when you're done smoking don't be a dumb ass. Clean your bowl out with hot water every time, do an alcohol soak when it gets grimey. If you're smoking a blunt or joint, flush the roach. Get rid of blunt guts. If the RAs come in, you don't want to give them any reason to bust you once you're done smoking.
Hope that helped.
