reusing contamed agar plates

I have some pre poured agar plates, I had a few contaminate on me, is it ok to wash these out with hot water and throw all the agar away out of it? I mean I won't be breathing in the spores i don't think. Is this a good idea to be opening a culture full of contamination, like bad for you?
Or once its contamed do you just throw the whole thing away.
btw these are plastic petri disded, not glass.

its best just to throw the whole thing out but if you live in the states have a have a landfill where they employ people to dig through the trash to pick out bottles and cans then you might want to clean them and crush the petris. They are not a common household item and might raise a red flag with the county

What does the county think when they dig up huge garbage bags full of bad bulk subs?

why wopuld you throw out old casing? us eit in your garden or us here in the state have 2-3 trash cans. 1-garbage 1-yard waste, casings, 1-glass, cans. Moldy shit in the yard waste can would not catch anyones attention.

I personally wouldn't throw away the petri's. I have pyrex petri dishes. When I want to deal with contamination, I just submerge the entire dish in a sink full of bleach solution. I open the dish while it is fully submerged and just wash it out. I rinse then PC it to get it back to a sterile, workable piece of equipment. One of the primary aspects of working with petri dishes is that you get to see contamination on a 2 dimensional layer, that way you can extract the culture and transfer it to a clean petri. It seems to defeat the purpose of working with petri dishes if you're just going to trash it at the first sign of contamination. You can sterilize and reuse the pre-poured agar dishes.
