I don't like the Dead almost at all, but I acknowledge that the Shroomery has a history and a heritage and that the people who made the Pub what it was in the first place love the Dead, and that there are still many Dead fans in the Pub. This is a Community Project, one with history, another edition in a project that has had many editions in it before. All you're doing is bringing negativity to this community trip, which doesn't need to bother you if you don't like it. It's a classic case of "If you don't have anything nice to say..."

No way--excellent picks--except that "If I Had the World to Give" sounds awfully familiar (See Shroomery Pics Vol. 1)!
Its all good I love that interstellar solo with the fluttering pick, its worth a double appearance

While my husband enjoys all GD songs I have favorites since I never saw them live and tripping like he did. I theorize that doing that embeds it in your brain and heart .
Personally, I find myself returning over and over to several like Deal and Truck'in. The cover song I play several times in a row is Not Fade Away. We have an excellent one it on a DVD from a 3-day Alpine Valley open-air concert and it goes into We Bid You Good-Night.
Ahhhhh
I actually heard the original on the radio here in NY a few nights ago while looking around for a good station to leave on while lighting up some weed. I recognized that it was NFA from the beat which, y'all know is very recognizable. The orig. is a bit more of a 50's country tune. I'd never heard it before.
For versatility (acid, jazz, country blues etc.) and super-tight coordination with the other band members to sound spontaneous...no one beats the Dead.
Only those who've never listened to them tripping would say they don't like GD music IMO. I had little use for the Dead before my hus gave me mushroom tea and played Uncle Johns Band for me. When it was St. Stephen into the eleven from Live Dead...Oh wow...I thought my soul would leave my body through the top of my head!

What a looong strange trip it's been! ~ Truck'in

i listened to ripple while i was tripping... and the rest is history. but i dont think you need to be tripping to love the music, the dead have their own vibe of music, it's not a general "tripping" vibe. people need to enjoy that vibe, be it jerrys soft voice, the bluegrass influence, all that jazz. if you can't enjoy that kind of music, no amount of tripping would help.
but yes the dead and tripping compliment each other very.... very.... well

I agree that they're simply a great band. My point re: tripping was re: those who don't appreciate it any other way. It was what opened my mind to it, like you and Ripple. I didn't enjoy/understand the loooong jams till I tripped to the Dead. Now I wish they were longer sometimes... tripping or not.
