what is this stuff? do they make envelopes out of it or something? can i just get it at the post office? i need filters, but i don't want to order them. what can i use?

Office supplies and stationers carry tyvek envelopes. Usually called 'indestructable', but always carrying a 'tyvek' logo on them.
Call them, they can usually order them if not in stock IME.

They use tyvek to cover houses before there is siding on them. why would you need this? It wouldnt work well as a filter either.
