It snowed here, and no one would hike w/ me, so I couldn't go out and take photographs. :frown:  I hate my pussy ass friends.  I don't want to hike alone in the lower sierra foothills alone in the snow (It doesn't get bad like being in the actual mountains, but you can get lost or hurt yourself or whatever).

Bah.

I lived most of my life in the deserts.  But I'm no stranger to cold climates either.  I've spent my share of time living in snow and ice as well.  And I have to admit, I'll take a hot desert summer day over a bitter-cold frozen winter day anytime.

But winter is absolutely beautiful.  Two years ago I went to visit my sister for Thanksgiving and it snowed that weekend.  Thats the last time I got to enjoy the true beauty of winter.  I love how a winter day almost seems to drain the color out of everything.  Its as if the world has turned black-n-white.  Heres a couple pics I took from that weekend.

But I'm still glad I'm in San Diego now.  Give me my year-round temperate climate and I'm happy...and spoiled!

I like it better than Summer. I sweat like a fat fuck in August. It's easier to die of heat stroke than hypothermia in the Northeast U.S.

I only like winter when it snows - snow makes cold worth it.

Give me a home where the Subaru's roam.

I love winter, but just not where I live because we get just about no snow at all and sometimes it rains in the middle of winter, but a three hour drive to Summit or Cantwell sits just fine with me for some mountain riding. Arctic Man is my favorite time of year. It's a gathering of about 10,000 snowmachiners in Summit and they have a sweet ass ski/snowboard race.
