My "fuck Religion" thesis

"Religion; a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects, is what defines what most consider they follow in regards to their beliefs, not concerning specific rules or followings. Christianity happens to be one of the most popular faiths along with Islam and Hinduism. Certain aspects of Christianity have evolved today to encompass an idea that there are two opposing forces constantly at battle. When going to a Christian gathering you may want to stop by a confessional to absolve yourself of sin by speaking with a priest or someone who may bless you and send you back out cleansed. Many Protestants at baptism, take the appointed and hold them underwater to cure them of mans original sin. As told by the story of Adam and Eve in which they had succumb to the desires of what one would call an anti-god, thus being thrown out of their paradise and staining mankind from then on. This is where the separation of god as some force and god as an actual figure I believe starts.
From here we have Priest, Popes and such who protect the values they believe represent the foundation. From here disciples spread the word and countries most affected with problems take up Christianity as a goal post and from here many countries are liberated, Christianity thus saving the world, one believer at a time. However on the other end of the spectrum, hence not in poor developing countries, Christianity has been evident in the regions for a great deal of time. So much so that even followers of the religion don’t fully grasp what it originally meant to the ones in their immediate family held when they joined the idea, because each interpretation has changed with every generation to reflect on what is going on in the world. From here we have various sets of Christianity, Roman Catholics, Born-Again and many others, who hold absolute faith in their religion as seeing the light.
What has occurred though or what is believed by many people is God being an ever knowing higher form of power that is always watching, maintaining right and wrong sending the latter to the depths of hell. Whether this is literal or metaphorical is entirely up to you, regardless of your religion. Although as being literal a quote from Philip K. Dicks A Scanner Darkly may make things one sided, as a psychotic overdosed dying man is being read his sins by an angel, “A thousand years later, he reached the sixth grade.”
What is now occurring and has been since the dawn of religion is that people need to save themselves from this personal idea of hell. A sort of deal, that if one does well they will be rewarded and saved. Interpreted to the extreme, there have been martyrs, sacrificing for the benefit of their God, whether it has been exorcising a demon from a body to the point of death or running into a grocery market packed with people with a bomb strapped to your chest. While the last is more of a trait of extreme Islam followers, it is wise to look at the human condition as a whole, as it may make things a bit more universal.
Jesus as Christianities ego and Mohamed as Islam’s demonstrate that religion itself is manmade, leaving those who stray away from it when it doesn’t tie loose ends to be looked down upon by those with the so called “light” or as Berger may call it Ways of Seeing. The Ways of Seeing being the learnt assumptions generated by that culture, being the only right, so know the idea of asking the question why seems a bit more anti-religious in itself.
So here we have this ever present tormentor in our heads, putting the quest for knowledge of a higher sense of identity rather then the selfless act of just being. This fear of God can roughly translate to being actually a fear of power, outlined by the extremist, whether righteous or devoted you can see that they’re all basically the same and we average folk are stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Over thousands of years of existence people are being thrown into salvation under the will of others to please their god(s) for the “greater good.” From the crusades to the overthrowing of various governments it is easy to imagine the number of people that paid for these beliefs.
The love of power held higher in some subconscious way that’d we never notice. For instance on the back of your own single dollar bill you may notice one eye floating above, as the top of a pyramid. That All-Seeing Eye, god and the rest of the pyramid below built by various captured slaves of the Egyptians. Your money may look different now, but what our cultures and many others have failed to realize is that it’s only a thin woven piece of cotton with ink on it, that’s what power essentially is. The King of the jungle one day will be replaced by evolution, that’s what those up top haven’t realized, history repeats. So the need to control or keep things the same, power in check, ironically drives those to do ungodly things.
At what point do people realize how far we’ve come. That not our organs with the power to create, but the feelings of our greater consciousness, have been keeping us alive for all these years? There are only chemicals in you; those ideas running through your head will probably never affect yours or anyone else’s reality unless you decide to act on them, not for yourself or your “tormentor,” but for everyone else’s reality. When you have people that only care about their own happiness and something horrible happens to them you see what depression occurs. Recognize who you are talking to if you do pray. “Please dismantle these phantom limbs, it’s the evidence of humans as ornaments,” a lyric from The Mars Volta’s Amputecture sums up what I am trying to get at."
all in all i think music is my religion, even certain birds cant help but circle, sing and shake their tail feathers

Lots of opinions, full of angst that seem to be portrayed as fact
you're talking down on the people that are religious the same way that you say they talk down on those who aren't
Christians don't believe in confessionals Catholics believe that the sins are told to a priest, who tells them to God, and relays the message.. or something similar to that
but, the music being your religion part is awesome

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say intelligence isn't your strong point.
Sorry OP, I didn't mean to derail your thread, just a simple remark to Shiver's sarcastic one.

Just because I said Hip hop is a question mark slightly sarcastic manner doesnt mean i am simply trying to be rude however that is a little bit silly to me because its just music its not something you can put your faith into and realize that this is your whole entire life personally i am agnostic but hip hop isnt exactly what i would consider a valid relgion in the least bit.

If you wanna play the game like a snitch then I think it should be noted that your post called me something along the lines of a fag who was a fat bitch that couldn't get laid before you edited it. Something about me being Jewish was in there too.

Considering your post was originally more than two lines, no, you weren't fixing a spelling error. And way to edit again. I know you snitched, I'll take my ban like a man.
