What is sorta scary

So dosed 3 tabs of cid with friends and watched the last 30 or so minutes of 2001 and the full waking life.
After this I sat in my room puzzled onto things, if all reality could suddenly, dissolve or the human race and earth could cease to exist at any moment. Why is it we put so much effort in to it all.
When he is getting ripped out of the third dimension persay in 2001 you realize that well...space and math and science have no were near touched onto a real reality so crazy shit could happen at ANY moment and proove all of this to be useless.
Could it really be true that until mankind is smart enough to invent things by thinking them in to existence (aka, I can dream an object and scientists can do it) we will not stop and chill out.
Even if we do get to that point, something in space could "go wrong" and we die.
I unno I am mainly looking for thoughts on mathamatics and space and how little we really know.

If you're interested in time/space you should check out 'a brief history of time' by Dr. Stephen Hawking.

Its relative and subjective to what you're looking to "discover" or "realize".
Everything is already immaculate, but upon human awareness, selfawareness and the "knowing that we know" things become obscured and messy.
That is immaculate. You are already perfect, otherwise how could you exist in harmony with the universe around you with its innumerable conceptions and abstractions, near infinite planes of existence layers of imagination and spheres of energy.
Honestly in order to be satisfied you have to stop trying to know it all and be a god. Even though you are the manifestation of god from physical creation to death and beyond.

It's a book, actually.
Hawking has multiple movies and documentaries about space/time and blackholes that might be on youtube or available for download via torrent, though.

Watch "What the Bleep do We Know?" It's all about really cool spacey shit. The second part of it is kinda lame though.

probably because as far as we know, thats not going to happen anytime soon, and if we just go "oh fuck it" then thats 20000 years of progress as a species down the tubes.

possibly, but why give up all hope and cease to live/advance? (not implying that you said we should) but even though i may die at any moment on earth, i still live my life as much as i can. This should be replicated on a macroscopic scale.

There is so much shit that we don't know. As wildly improbable as it seems that there is an afterlife, perhaps one day it can (somehow) be proven by science that there is. Theres just so much that we don't know.
