the theory of everything

my friend was telling me that some one supposedly figured it out, and ended up combining einsteins theory or relativity, electromagnetism, and the other current theories. I can't really find anything on the subject, but this friend wouldn't just make this up. So he either heard it from some one he considers reliable, or researched it himself.
Anyone know anything new?

I believe he's talking about M Theory. It seems plausible, and makes mathematical sense. The problem is that, so far as I know, it can't be tested, and thus can't truly be considered a theory.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about M theory, though he said that the physicist that was behind it was a surfer. (seems very odd to me)
DanLennon, i have elegant universe on DVD, it really is mindblowing.

Don't give me that shit. I'm just going by what I've heard. It was figured out by some scientists who know way more math than I could possibly comprehend, and even its detractors acknowledge that it makes mathematical sense.

You're probably thinking of Garrett Lisi. Lisi's theory of everything is based on an eight dimensional mathematical pattern called E8.
