Here's a solution, every time you go to grab a smoke have someone kick you in the nuts. Trick your mind

I'll put your advice in the possibility bag right now. Let's see what others have to say first.

Me too. Problem is, I'm having a party tonight and there will be joints going round, also I will be very very drunk.
I think best advice is stay away from drink it removes any willpower you have.

everytime I quit, this is what ruins me. I go to a party and get drunk.
if i'm really drunk and am in a hot tub, there's no hope for me. i'm going to smoke a cigarette.

the problem that people have with quitting is thinking that if they smoke one cigarette - then, fuckit, I guess I'm smoking again
it IS possible to smoke a few one night while yer drinking...and then, you know, not keep going the next day

yea, there aren't many people that can only smoke one. and I know of none
can you afford to buy patches and stuff? my parents were going to get these pills that are supposed to be guaranteed effective. Sounded fishy to me, plus they were expensive

I used zyban to quit. it worked great.
Like muppet said, I did smoke every once and a while at partys and I had been drinking a shit-ton. I just never smoked the next day and I was fine with it. After a while I just wanted them less and less, even when I'd been drinking.
Now, I can't stand even the taste of a cig. It makes me green.

I smoke about 3 cigarettes a week.
This is down from a 5-6 year habit of over a packa day.
I love how I have it now. I actually ENJOY my cigarrettes, instead of needing one. I only smoke when a cigarette sounds nice now...not when I'm feening and my chest feels like it's gonna cave in ( which I haven't felt since I quit smoking regularly 2 years ago ).
The weird thing is, when I smoked regularly I never coughed anything up. Now when I just smoke one cigarette, 30 minuts later I'm coughing up nasty mucous/tar, and in the morning I have a nicotine hangover ( sometimes ). Still beats being addicted.

I haven't smoked for a month or so I was a smoker for seven years. Go ahead and buy your pack, but you must have a routine before you light up. Take your cigarette out of the pack and look at it. Look inside yourself at how your body feels. Take deep breaths, notice how your longs feel. Stretch your muscles (in your seat), by flexing and relaxing. Take note of where the craving comes from (your mind). Notice, that 9/10 you will feel a whole lot better before you smoke that cigarette than after. Gradually increase the length of your "pre-smoke" meditation. Your mind will quickly catch on. Eventually, you will take your cigarette, meditate and then put it back into the pack.

start going to the gym two weeks(give your lungs some healing time) after quitting .... and start going regularly.
People quit smoking usually bcause they want to stop feeling like shit. Going to the gym makes you feel healthy and energized, especially when you dont smoke or do other shit, so that your feeling good would offset your urges to smoke again. Just give it a try after two weeks buddy.
edit: BTW i am a an ex-smoker, will have gone without one a full year come january.

The following examples are given by way of illustration of the present and improved method of treating nicotine abuse or dependency and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
EXAMPLE 1
Subject, age 42, was smoking two or more packs of filter cigarettes per day. Subject was administered a single dose of 15 mg/kg of ibogaine. Subject suffered no nicotine withdrawal and has not smoked cigarettes for more than 24 months, at which time tracking ceased.
EXAMPLE 2
Subject, age 34, Subject was smoking one and a half packs of filter cigarettes per day when administered 15 mg/kg of ibogaine HCl. Cigarette smoking continued, but diminished over a thirty day period at which time the subject ceased to smoke cigarettes and maintained this state for sixty days, at which time tracking was discontinued.
EXAMPLE 3
Subject, a 36 year old male had been smoking four to six cigerettes a day for a year. A single treatment with 25 mg/kg of ibogaine interrupted all tobacco use. Subject has had no desire to continue smoking and suffered no discomfort of nicotine withdrawal. Tracking was discontinued after sixty days.
There is someone close to me, who I want to give this to. I gave up smoking through vomiting (an experience I never want again) and suffered no withdrawls, none that I noticed at least.

what helped me: feel your trachea. I mean, imagine it, this clean fleshy tube that transports oxygen into your lungs, branches out... imagine the alveoli, pristine little bags, hundreds of them, doing their amazing job of keeping you alive. Then picture all those perfect organs getting all fucked up and coated with resin. that is what did it for me. You gotta actually sit there and FEEL that happening within your body. If you truly can conceive what is happening, you'll stop.
