oven bags = vaccum sealer bags
    #7731892 - 12/08/07 03:52 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Can I substitute oven bags for vaccum sealer bags from a seal-a-meal vaccuum sealer?

I am trying to pasturize a few bags of straw to mix with a few half pints of WBS spawn.

you could use seal-a-meal type bags to pasteurize your straw but those are cost prohibitive for long term solutions...check your local dollar store or wal-mart even for mesh laundry bags for womens delicates...they will hold an amount comparable to about 3 footballs or so and can be weighted down with a brick or dumbbell in a pot of water to pasteurize
you want the water to saturate and hydrate the straw while it pasteurizes it

nah i just have some extra a need to pasturize only a little bit of straw to mix with a pint of WBS. I am gonna make some mini straw casings and straw log. I never used straw before and want to grow some shrooms on it and pretty fast, so I am gonna do something small.
Like a 6x9inch baking pan with just straw, and crumbled wbs cakes.
