When should you let light in the monotub when the coir is fully colonized or when myc starts to show on the top of the coir?

You want the coir to look like a white block before you expose to light.

ok.
How long should a brick of coir take to colonize on average? I used half a brick and 3 half pint brf jars on 11/28/07.

Heres the container

This is yesterday

Does this seem to be going slow? Is it because I used too little amount of colonized spawn?

ahh just found it. 1 pint is 1/2 quart. 2 quarts to a half of brick of coir is recommended so if I put in 3 half pints thats only 3/4 of a quart instead of the recommended 2 quarts.
I guess it will just take a extra week.

aren't you using a casing layer? I heard it's very hard to not use one.

I use a 1 inch casing layer, and fruit it when it looks about like this.

That is after one patching job.
