First grow (Brazilian) uncased (pics) FIRST HARVEST!!!

Ok this is pretty much my first grow... I tried a few B+ cakes a month ago that didn't do much so I'm giving it a go with a different strain.
This is a multi spore Brazilian to Milo grain. 2 pints per tray spawned to 50/50 horse poo / Coir, then straight to fruit. Tray on the left went in to FC five days before the other one.
I'm using a Ultra Sonic on full blast running 24/7 They were grown in incubator at 85F so I have them at 77-80F in FC with around 99% RH After these are done I'm going to do the same thing but I'm going to case to see the difference in size and pin set. I will update pics as they get bigger and finish.

Doesn't it get ridiculously wet in there? How do you get rid of the excess water?
On another note, I've had tremendous success without casing. I'd like to see how yours turns out. Keep us posted.

Quick question... If I was to clone the two siamese twin looking mushrooms in last pic, would they all turn out like that?
O Yea by the by this was a really small one that was ready to be picked when I awoke this morning. (first one picked) I thought it was cool looking...

Allow me to ask you to look at the Advanced board for an answer to your post. There is a mathematical equation as the answer to your question. You'd have to clone and use spores, clone and use spores a few times until the genetics settle down. You'd have to use a selective process a couple of times before you'd get consistent results. Go Advanced, perhaps you're ready Neo...

what are your temps???
and you mentioned that your getting puddles from the ultra. are those puddles forming right on top of the bulk that you have to randomly pour off? because in one of your pics it looks like the hose is going directly onto the bulk..

temps are just under 80F
as for puddles, they are forming mostly between tray and spawn a little on surface. I just tip them like 3 times a day and they stay fine. As for that hose the little hose is 1 of 2 air supply hoses, the ultra sonic hose is much bigger and is placed between the two trays so any water run-off doesn't go into a tray.

your mycelium seems to be really healthy! Looks like it was growing over top of the pins in the first few pictures you posted though. You might wanna drop the temps a bit. Thats just me though. You seem to be doing just fine without my advice though, so keep doing what you're doing.
That flush looks great! first grow? damn dude. That looks sooo sooo sooo much better than what i got for my first grow.
good job. You've got some fatties in there.

you can expect a 5 shroom rating from me in the future man. that is one hell of an fc too. nice. you might be able to turn the timer on that ultrasonic down a little bit though.
edit: also if you replace that (i think its tyvek?) stuff on the side with some polyfil you might not get as much water buildup and it will provide better gas exchange

The patches over the big vent holes are 100% cotton facial cleansing pads, they are 2 ply so I just pulled em apart and used half for each hole. The only problem with them is the RH tends to get them wet. and about the setting on the ultra sonic I have the flow control at about 50%, I had it at 100% but I think that was a bit of an overkill.
ps Whats this about shroom ratings? hows that work?

shroom ratings are how we give props around here. unless you are talking to an OTDer they dont take anything seriously. click on the little mushrooms under someones name and you will be able to view their ratings and see what people have to say about them. give someone a rating when you feel like they've earned it, good or bad. it sticks with them forever.
and that problem with moisture on your cotton pads, cant help you there, just make sure to change them every once and a while to prevent contams wicking themselves in through there. another option in the future would be to make allot of small holes instead of big ones and maintain a positive pressure with your humidifier so the exchange can only go out through through the holes and in through the humidifier.
but what you have is obviously working extremely well.

See I thought Brazilians had skinny stems with average caps, and GT's were just massive. I Wonder why mine look more like GT's and are so thick compared to the pics Ive seen of this strain.
In the morning I'm going to put up a few more pics, I have a feeling that they are going to BOOM tonight.

OTDers are the lowest form of pond scum. not all, but most. and they think its funny to give random bad ratings to serious shroomerites because they feel bad about how bad they actually suck. i think most of them have miserably failed at growing so they need to leech the cool off of those of us that know how.
anyhow, cant wait to see those morning pics man. or the dry weight. any guesses anyone? also, how big/deep are your casings? been meaning to ask that. once i find that out then i can post my prediction. i love trying to guess dry weights.

O yea nice, hey sorry if I sound lame but what are OTDers?
About the sizes. They are actually kitty litter pans/trays that were only like $2 each and they are 14x9in by 3in deep... my spawn is only about 2.5in deep tho.
Its so great growing, every morning I awake its like X-Mas! I wish I started a long time ago... pics will be posted around 8am MT time.

yeah man, its a hell of allot of fun i grow shitakes now too that is also allot of fun. someday i hope to figure out how to grow a morel indoors.
well, as for the sizes my guess is 1.75 oz in two flushes the first being a little over a dry oz. but that could be way off, i have been WAY off in the past.
as for OTDers, they are a real tight knit group of weirdos and forum flamers that hang out in the Off Topic Discussion area of the shroomery, and like i said i still havent been able to figure out why they waste their time here, i dont even think 90% of them know anything about mushrooms except to eat them and go do more weird shit in OTD forum. and i wish i never would have found out about them, so there is nothing lame about that. they arent all bad either by the way, just most. but i am rapidly becoming a flamer myself talking all this crap about them so that is enough.

I took one of those fish tank cleaning tubes, and where it goes into the ultra sonic I used a plastic cup. The cup just has a hole cut out to fit the plastic end of the tank cleaner. its kinda getto but it works fine.
heres a pic...

1st grow ! Killer MAN !

Walmart has a timer (one on the left) ... super cheap ... $7.00, that goes down to 15 minute increments ...... might work well for your ultrasonic ........ try 15 minutes on 1 1/2 hours off .....
and / or use your air supply to help 'dry out' the chamber.
Your 1st grow looks great.

Thanks Uncle Rico. I have a few timers just like that, the light is hooked up to one 12 / 12... I just didn't know that running the ultra sonic 24/7 would be bad for them. Maybe I should put it on a timer.

if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take your bulk to fully colonize from the time of spawning? i have had mine for a week or so now and it is growing a very web like growth still(hasn't started rhizo yet). i am also using brazilians and i spawned to straight coir. did your bulk also start with very light growth and then started getting really rhizomorphic ?
(pardon my English i am in a rush)
cheers,

well from the time I put my grain in with the H poo N Coir it took about a week to fully colonize. The reason I did it the way I did was because I wanted to colonize my bulk in my incubator @ 85F. So yea I couldn't do that with it in a mono w/ out the trays. Also It went straight to BIG rizo, maybe because of the temps or what ever. Sorry if I'm rambling but I tested just 1 of them and they are way to strong...

Thanks lostinautumn7 You've been great, I will for sure be posting my next journey into this killer hobby...
heres a few pics of the other tray starting to grow a little, and pics of the first tray... What should I do about the spots that I had picked from? Theres like big holes and you can see the substrate, is this bad?

Nothing to worry about. Most people patch it with some extra sterilized/pasteurized casing mix that they keep around, just to keep it even. That actually works really nice, but I am kind of lazy sometimes so I just leave the little craters. It shouldn't hurt anything that bad.....it may mean one or two less mushrooms, but if you do leave it its nothing to stress over IMO.
